gmail filters for stock rom" 'read' and 'sent' issues
I just went from dcd_titan_3.2.0 to the stock sprint 3.35.651.2 rom
the one thing i miss is that my gmail used to ignore messages that i sent from a PC. For example i'm at my computer, i send an e-mail, then i get a notification on my phone and that same e-mail that i sent via PC as a new message. dcd's rom would not forward my outgoing messages to my phone. Also when i read a new e-mail on my pc, and it's marked 'read' when my phone pops the message to my titan inbox it now comes in as "unread". with dcd's rom it used to come in as "read" and not annoy me with a notifacation. does anyone know if there is a .cab file i can install on the stock rom to get this gmail behavior back to the way it was when i was running dcd 3.2.0??? thanks in advance |
Re: gmail filters for stock rom" 'read' and 'sent' issues
Honestly, I've never seen the behavior you're referring to. Sent mail for me goes into sent mail and never notifies me about it, and read mail comes in as read for me.
Are you connecting via IMAP or via POP3? IMAP retains read/unread status, but POP3 doesn't synchronize that information. This could be the problem you're having. |
Re: gmail filters for stock rom" 'read' and 'sent' issues
that's it... thanks much
BTW, if you enter an e-mail address with the "gmail.com" it will automatically select POP3, and not let you change it. Also if you open a new account with the gmail domain it will not display the "try to get e-mail settings automatically from the internet." checkbox, making it impossible to enter the info manually, unless of coarse you mis-spell gmail in your e-mail address field in step 1 :) ...then you see the checkbox and can enter the rest manually. cheers |
Re: gmail filters for stock rom" 'read' and 'sent' issues
Yeah, that's a known issue with Windows Mobile 6.1. It's something we figured out and had to adjust for when first playing with the early betas of 6.1, and now it's a listed solution on Google's site. I use XML provisioning to set up my Gmail accounts on my phone, so it's not something I even have to mess with anymore, thankfully.

I've been dealing with this issue forever.. using POP3. Should I try IMAP?

Re: gmail filters for stock rom" 'read' and 'sent' issues
Definitely. IMAP's drastically superior. It syncs all of your mail with the server instead of merely downloading local copies of it.
