if you dont believe that an official build can be better (f@ck the smaller numbers the build comes with) , try out JDs rom which is based on 19208 with modules from other builds that he knows wont botch anything up.

once you try that rom, youll know the difference between real speed gains and placebo speed gains you think youre getting from going from 20270 to 20273 or whatever other moves youre making.

...not even getting into battery management, ram management, or stability. find out for yourself

sigh... have you tried dcd's latest? I don't think there is any rom out there I haven't tried and I still say it is faster, better memory, and extremely stable. I hardly ever soft reset and thats saying a lot since I used to have to do it all the time. There were issues with the 19208 and the 20270 that dcd has never had (bar at the bottom hiding or not displaying stuff).

Meh, it all comes down to "to each his own". Everyone has their preferences and can be set in their own ways. What really matters I guess is what works out best for each person.

I do think that some of the things people are saying about the official buildOS should be looked at by the team from a positive standpoint. Not saying that it is bad, but maybe look at some of the things some people are saying and try to improve it based on that. Of course the application is provided for free, and I am still grateful for that. With that said, I do miss the practically daily updates to each rom base back from the WM 5 apache days. The focus was always on core functionality vs adding in custom appliactions. I still think we have some great people on here putting out some awesome applications and work that you cannot find anywhere else.

It might seem faster, and better power managment, but how do you know that is not just a plebo? you really dont, so aside from 20273 being bigger number then 19208, what is going to be different?

Get a changelog and then I will believe until then 19208 is just perfect.
Everything you just asked was detailed in my response. It's not a placebo effect because I've had many gripes with previous builds. DCD has ported a great build for the titan with 20273, as was observed by GGuru in a previous thread. If you even compare the ROMs for 20270 and 20273 you'll instantly notice the difference. There is no placebo. It's actually that good.

And you want a changelog? Is there ever a changelog provided with the official ROMs? Other than what was added by the carrier? No. If you want to know what was changed/tweaked/added/removed then read the changelogs by the developers for these custom roms. They will tell you everything you need to know.

Re: Next WM release any time soon?

I also noticed a huge difference between 20270 and 20273. I have all my "bloatware" installed with 20273 (DCD 3.2.5) and still have 21 MB after it boots up and never dip below 16MB (exchange, SPB MS, SPB PS, etc, etc, etc)..

Re: Next WM release any time soon?

19208 wasnt given to the Vogue and Titan for any reason. Microsoft teams just so happen to be on build 19208 when the OEM(HTC) was ready for it.

Windows mobile in this case for the PPC is not Device Specific.

exactly....was bout to post this then i saw you beat me to it.
i also want to chime in and give a +1 to DCDs 3.2.5 being the most stable ROM released for the titan in a while. it is not as fast and fluid graphically as some of no2chem's builds but i have encountered absolutely 0 bugs in my month of using it. i think i've had to soft reset twice...but that was because the opera beta hosed my RAM....3.2.5 is rock solid.

Try actually taking the time to fix stuff instead of *****ing about it, and you'll see why it sometimes takes more time than others. We make releases when we feel there is enough changes to warrant a new release. Sometimes that's quickly, sometimes not.

[QUOTE=electronicrice;387333]What my problem is is that while DCD continues to focus on the community and produce builds of WM to help make our phone better, faster and bug-free, while giving us the bleeding edge, no2chem, for months, has been focusing more on his own applications both for perceived functionality and as replacements of core windows applications, which are being implemented in future PPCKitchen versions, without the options of removal.[/qoute]
First, No2Chem can do whatever he wants to do. If you don't like it, to bad. Second, No2Chem's work benefits his roms and many other users. Sorry you'd like him to do something you appreciate better, but making your device more useable doesn't always mean porting a new rom. Third, you are really stretching when you talk about things being implemented in PPCKitchen kitchens without the option of removal (it doesn't happen to any significant extent, and the extent to which it does happen happens just as much w/ any other kitchen, DCD included). Tell me a no2chem app that's built in and why you'd be better off with it removed.

Really? You can't seriously think that bringing No2Chem's apps/roms to the kitchen is not in keeping with PPCKitchen's goals or takes away from the kitchen idea. Furthermore, just because you don't see updates for your device doesn't mean kitchens for other devices haven't been worked on. Titan's aren't the only phones in the world.

And now you have crossed into insanity. Are you using PPCGeeks_OEM.rar? I bet so. Does DCD maintain some 16 kitchens? No. Does DCD maintain kitchens for 6 different devices? No. Does DCD write software for you to use on your device to make it more useable as No2Chem does? No. Does DCD write tools to improve your rom building experience? No. Does DCD do things like make unlockers (ImCokeMan) or run help rooms for people who have borked their phones? No. Does DCD work on adding support for new devices? No. DCD has done some good work, but it is hardly on the scale of PPCKitchen or even No2chem.

Besides, who said we're behind? Just because we didn't release 20273 doesn't mean we didn't do it or even release some portions of it. Despite your opinion of how much better 20273 is over 20270, your actual testing of similarly configured roms is non-existent. 20273 is not significantly better than 20270. It's certainly not better enough to divert the time it takes to release it from other activities we have going on.

And that's not even counting the donations just to no2chem himself. If that's not enough to keep interest in providing the community with new rom development at regular intervals then that's disappointing in itself.
Who said that list was people who donated money? I can assure you it isn't. You'd do better begging on a street corner.

No. That was the the most recent stable build that made it through testing on the vogue and titan. There really is a device specific component, we just happen to strip that part out when porting from one device to another, substituting in older files that we hope work with the newer ones.

When did I observe that? I've never flashed a DCD rom, ever.

See, that's where you're wrong. We actually compared identical builds of 20270 and 20273 to do our comparisons. They're not decernably different.

We do, in part. We also use the stuff ourselves, so we have a pretty good idea what areas need work. Most people can't see beyond their own personal needs however, so a lot of time we spend not directly working on the current kitchen someone is using is taken as inaction.

The techniques of today are based upon all the work back then. What took months to get right back then can be done in minutes now.
