Getting Around Tethering Detection with VZW?

Okay. So this thread is not about how to tether my device to my PC. That works for me perfectly with a number of different tethering methods.

This is my problem. I used tethering all day yesterday with no problems at all and surfed just fine. Now when I tether my 6800 to my laptop, my laptop detects the internet, but it goes to a VZW page that is trying to get me to pay $15 a month for tethering. I cant seem to get around this stupid page, I have even tried to connect using WMWIFIROUTER and still get the same page.

How do I get around this guys? I am assuming that there is a method to tether your phone without having to pay that additional amount?

I have searched a number of threads but they all seem to talk about how to disable tethering detection for Sprint. Just to be sure however I went and made sure that my phones registry did have those same modifications made and I still have the same problem.

Solution?

Thanks guys.

i was told if you use the USB connection and internet sharing from the 6.1 release that VZ wont know that you're tethering. i haven't needed to use it just yet to test it out as i usually use wmwifirouter. are you using internet sharing? and what version of wifirouter?

You can also use a program called PDANet. Works great. There's a 10-day trial, I believe, as well. Here's the link -> http://www.junefabrics.com/pdanet/index.php

I am using the new version of WMWIFIRouter. I think it is 1.08 or something along those lines.

Also I have tried using a USB connection and the internet connection sharing app that is installed in WM 6.1.

There is a registry edit to fix this problem. You may be able to search to find it. I will try to search for it later.

If you could find it PLEASE let me know. I searched earlier and I found the one for Sprint. I have already done the sprint one to no avail.

I had this problem, but only when I tried to tether without previously connecting to the internet. If you establish an internet connection first, it works fine.
