Samsung Omnia 3D Drivers
2 Attachment(s)
Don't know if this will do anyone any good but.. run the D3D test from Palm.. see what it does.. install the drivers. soft reset.. run it again.. cube should be fast... It'll slow down a little when you try to touch the screen though... And I am running DVD 3.2.5 FYI
Got it from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=416474 |
Re: Samsung Omnia 3D Drivers
Does it do anything for changing portrait/landscape modes?

Re: Samsung Omnia 3D Drivers
this is just software based solution, it still uses the cpu instead of the gpu.
|
Re: Samsung Omnia 3D Drivers
It is definately an optimized driver which yields much better performance. it is even better on tomtom 7, but this might be placebo effect.
|
Re: Samsung Omnia 3D Drivers
Got about a 10% increase in TCPMP benchmark, so meh, but the D3D test is absurd. I was getting about 3.5fps (slower than molasses) before installing the drivers, now I don't know what I'm getting because the frame rate's not showing, but the square and ball are now moving at what appears to be full speed. Big improvement.

Here is an OEM I made. Works in the PPCkitchen and DcD's Tested and verified. Wow nice little boost.

Re: Samsung Omnia 3D Drivers
I'm running the program/drivers now. Software or not, it's an enhancement and hopefully it works great on a No2Chem ROM.
|
Re: Samsung Omnia 3D Drivers
Working great on the latest stock SPCS rom here!
SWEET! Between No2Chem getting DD working, this, and hopefully REAL GPU drivers getting ported the Mogul will friggin ROCK! Forget the tiny little Raphael, lol. |
Re: Samsung Omnia 3D Drivers
Working great for me too. Awesome find.
|
Re: Samsung Omnia 3D Drivers
will the driver survive a hard reset/rom flash? thx

Some very interesting comments from NuShrike and sakajati in the XDA thread. Well worth reading, but quoted here:

this seems to work on the touch as well

Re: Samsung Omnia 3D Drivers
More RAM would definetly be nice, but it's almost sickening to see the difference brought about merely by software driver optimizations that HTC should have been including. I've never been one of the ones yelling about drivers (or the lack thereof), but this might make me change that stance. Going from 3fps on the 800w's D3DDemo, to 90+fps with the Omnia driver is appalling. Imagine the real world performance gain we'd see if we can get updated 2d software drivers. I honestly don't even care about hardware acceleration now. I just want the thing to work like it's supposed to. Like every Samsung, Treo, etc. does thanks to properly functioning drivers. The Titan's RAM really is killing me, but I could probably hold out a little longer if some 2d drivers pop up.

Re: Samsung Omnia 3D Drivers
will this work on a sprint touch? anyone tried it?

at first i was skeptical but after trying it, wow!

Re: Samsung Omnia 3D Drivers
Is it just me or does anyone else think that browsing with Skyfire feels way faster after the driver install?
[pt] |
Re: Samsung Omnia 3D Drivers
Unfortunately, its doubtful that performance increases in video playback/Skyfire/etc are anything more than placebo. This is an improvement in 3d performance only, and per NuShrike, few developers utilize D3D. Some 3d games *may* play better, but for now that is probably about it. Oh, and you can now stare at shiny, spinny objects at a much more pleasing speed than you could before :)

Re: Samsung Omnia 3D Drivers
al right guys whats the verdict? placebo or not?

Re: Samsung Omnia 3D Drivers
Works great. Now when I press the message button, my email comes up, and stays up. Before it would come up, then fall back to the "Today" screen, and I would have to press the email button again....:headbang:

Re: Samsung Omnia 3D Drivers
haha jumpyball is badass with this driver. no more lag. too bad its the only 3d app ive got.

Re: Samsung Omnia 3D Drivers
"Somehow, HTC is getting away with shipping the reference driver which MS supposedly has forbidden for release/redistribution (according to a Don Couch). This reference driver does a bunch of quality checking and comparisons internally that is never used in a production release. Think of it as you're driving your car and checking the fluid levels, tire pressure, tread level, aerodynamics, etc every second."
Ummmm... if this was forbidden... why are we all letting HTC get away with it? That's my question... Microsoft should even have stepped in at some point and told them to get with the program! Anyway, I don't see much of a point of putting this on my device... now if someone can get OpenGL and 2D working, then I'd be interested lol |
Re: Samsung Omnia 3D Drivers
Works great for me too.

Re: Samsung Omnia 3D Drivers
Dont know if this is the best place to post this, but including the 3d drivers in ppckitchen buildos causes the "error building default.hv..." error. Its included in the newwest PPCGeeks_OEM.rar, and whenever I check it in the list I get an error. I have not tried to manually drop the oem from post #7 yet, but the one included with buildos is definately messed up..... took me about 2 hours of checking and unchecking stuff, but I finally found it......

Re: Samsung Omnia 3D Drivers
So does anyone know any games that run off D3DM?

Re: Samsung Omnia 3D Drivers
Yeah so on the original XDA link, there is a zip file of sample programs... you can definitely tell its not hardware acceleration but software as has been mentioned because there is zero anti-aliasing going on.

Re: Samsung Omnia 3D Drivers
Ok, WHY DOESN'T THE OP HAVE MORE THANKS?!
This is an amazing discovery! And I finally met a fellow jumpyball player!! You should also try Virtual Pool mobile. Great app! |
Re: Samsung Omnia 3D Drivers
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\D3DM\Drivers]
"LocalHook"="D3DMXSc50PB.dll" I could be wrong but I think you guys are experiencing a placebo effect ... my reason for saying this is because my driver line on some of my roms read [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\D3DM\Drivers] "LocalHook"="d3dm_ati.dll" meaning I had added the diamond d3dm drivers there are no differences in my performance from the htc_d3dm.dll ...... like I said I could be wrong but I may have even read some where that this local hook driver have something to do with the camera and that is about it |
