All of these threads are linked in the consolidated sticky thread :(

Not to be a smart *** or anything but what is the purpose of this Poll, if you're pretty much saying this is the way it is and I might consider that?

The results are more than obvious at this point.

Please don't ban me, just a question. Don't want you to go all "God-Mod" on me!

Re: Purpose of the STICKIES

For what it's worth, I think stickied posts are a valuable asset if they're not abused and the most frequently viewed/relevant posts are the ones stickied. That said, I think it's also important to "lock" or occasionally purge those threads to keep them from becoming unreasonably long / irrelevant. Finally, I also think that if there's a way to only sticky them to the top of the FIRST page instead of every page that would go a long way towards making them less obtrusive.

On another topic that might help, perhaps the upgrades sub-forums should have sub-sub-forums dedicated to specific custom ROMs. For example, the Titan Upgrades forum could have a subforum for No2Chem, DCD, etc.

Re: Purpose of the STICKIES

Why not just add a post limit for the stickies, or a poll if something should be or not. Just re-arranging the site like that was pretty lame and i found it damn frustrating.

Re: Purpose of the STICKIES

Since all the relevant info is still linked to in the stickies, I don't see it as that big of a deal. It wasn't useful to tell someone to check the stickies, which can be 10+ different threads, some of which containing different explanations of the same material. They were in need of a cleanup, and I think we got that (and maybe a little more).

That said, I've also always liked the idea of having stickies on the first page only. Then everything would be out in the open (not "hidden" within a master, upgrade thread), and you wouldn't clutter the remaining pages.

Re: Purpose of the STICKIES

ok the way I see it is like this ..... awhile ago I wrote a how to tutorial I didn't really think much of it but Wideawake made it a stickie and only posts that are relevent to developing are allowed in that thread .... I did not ask for any special treatment with that thread ... it was something that the site administrator and another moderator had came up with .... now my question is did they abuse the stickie rule ...... why is it that the titan upgrade section was cleaned up but not the vogue ..... why did it take for the titan upgrade stickies to be removed and info on a custom rom to be added before this rule came into play ....... I feel that certain stickie should have remained just because it was a quick way for anyone who has questions to check the flashing how to stickie or if you need to quickly go back to a stock rom you had a stickie with that info in it .... honestly the one consolidated thread in my opinion is not gonna attract anyone new who has a question asking about anything how to .... I think that the repetitive new threads asking how to flash a rom would show that ......

Yeah I had a Tutorial in the Apache thread that was stickied. Same deal I didn't ask, it was thorough and had correct and up to date info so they used it. I tried to an equally good job on the most recent one as well. I did the tutorial with the hope that a lot of questions would be answered, I too see what seems to be a large increase in the "easy" questions that most people could get an answer from in the stickies.

Re: Purpose of the STICKIES

I think this makes everything so difficult. I used to only browse the Vogue forums, and the way everything was set up, it was so easy to do anything to your phone because the information was RIGHT THERE. I recently aquired a XV6800 and for the love of me cannot find any custom ROM's other than JD's and Vevitto's (and only because someone recently posted there)...trying to find others brings me from one link to another link to another link. Good luck trying to revert to stock, no help there either. Its not helpfull at all, and your saying they're gonna do this to the Vogue forum as well?? I guess so much for making it easy for new Vogue/Titan users to come here and learn anything. After searching and searching.......discouragement kicked in and elsewhere I will look.

I really used to like this site until they stripped it of all the important info that was there. Now its just a bunch of useless threads of questions that never wouldve even existed if people were able to find the answers themselves which is near imposible now.

These changes made things worse. I now have to scroll more due to all the newbie question threads. Thanks

*sigh* :angry7:

Re: Purpose of the STICKIES

And there in lies the problem...someone who hasn't been here for awhile now gets a bunch of senseless posts. Before they at least got some attempt at meaningness by way of the stickies. I don't mind the rule in the main forums, but I'd really like to see Tutorial/Guide and ROM/Kitchen subforums for each device. In the sub-forums, I'd like the most relevant/recent/good posts stickied like was done before. Otherwise, good stuff just gets lost in the deluge of crap threads.

please understand that this post is meant to be contructive, but the current system sucks, compared to the old system. While i agree there was a change needed (to many stickys) i dont agree w/ this NO STICKY bS :protest: :protest: :protest: :protest:

I agree 100% w/ gguruusa's quote above!!! If another moderator is needed to 'keep up' i'm sure Mike can find one ;-)
