Unable to update ROM, please help
I thought I was prepared to upgrade, but apparently not because I'm stuck and need some help. Sorry to be annoying, but I messed with it all night and can't fix my problem.
I had a stock never-upgraded Verizon xv6800. I ran the standard Titan unlocker. I then upgraded the radio to 3.35, but after I did this it will restart and then stop at the Verizon splash screen and never loads Windows. So I tried putting it in bootloader to upgrade the ROM to a GPS ROM, but it failed a couple times and then finally was going but got to 10% and stopped. Now it doesn't get out of bootloader and I can't update the radio or ROM version because even if I could get out of bootloader it doesn't load Windows. Can someone point me in the right direction to fix my problem or to get my phone back to the starting point? Help is much appreciated. |
Re: Unable to update ROM, please help
Hi, teamgood. There are ways to get out of bootloader. Try reading this thread:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...ght=bootloader If it were me, I would get it out of bootloader using the program offered in the thread above, then I would pull the battery, then reinsert the battery and hard reset the phone. It might load then. The above procedure has no downsides, if it doesn't clear up the problem, then other measures like reflashing the radio to another version may be called for. Try this first. |
Re: Unable to update ROM, please help
Remove the battery for a few minutes. It was in the ROM update instructions somewhere, but it worked for me.

I thought you had to update radio to 3.x before you could use 2.4 unlocker - so i used 1.2 to unlock, updated radio, and then was going unlock w/ 2.4 and update ROM. I'll try to use the program to get it out of bootloader and do a hard reset - but I'm afraid it'll still get stuck at the Verizon screen. |

Re: Unable to update ROM, please help
thanks again for the help. I got it going again.
here's what worked for me: -used sd card to flash back to stock Verizon ROM. -used nue2.47 unlocker -flashed new sprint ROM to update radio to 3.42 and didn't run customization -flashed DCD's 3.2.5 ROM and the carrier cab and I'm back in action. |

Re: Unable to update ROM, please help
Okay, same exact scenario. But what do you do if you follow the instructions and flash the rom from an SD card, and it FAILS?

Re: Unable to update ROM, please help
What bootloader version did you flash 1.20 or 2.4?

Re: Unable to update ROM, please help
Somehow I accidentally installed 1.20 instead of 2.4 after a GPS Sprint official update.
I can't load original rom from activesync, or sd card. I even tried formating the card in a reader and a thumb drive. I even tried Qwest update. No go. I can flash a rom that is OS only and a rom that is radio only. But the whole 'ship' rom thing doesn't work. Is there a way to install Olipro 2.4, or no2chems latest 2.47, without access to the active sync? Thanks. |
Re: Unable to update ROM, please help
You first have to get a Shipped ROM on there then run the unlocker. Take a look at this link. You may be able to get one of these to flash. Just don't let the customizations run. When it gets to the screen that says touch here to setup, put the phone in bootloader and run one of the 2.4 unlockers. If you happen to go past that screnn just make sure you reset when the screen says customizations will run in 3 seconds and starts counting don. You have to be watching close and ready to reset. Post a question over there and see if the ones that have been through it can walk you through.
Wooohoo post number 700. i just realized I didn't put the link in above. whoops. It is in now. That post has several of the stock pre-gps ROMs |
Re: Unable to update ROM, please help
