Stock Alltel Rom on unlocked phone?
 

I have Olipro 2.40 on my phone and radio 3.35.04 and using the ppc kitchen for ROMs. I have read that you can never go back to a non-gps rom once you have a gps rom on your phone. The newest Alltel ROM has a post 3.35 radio but not a gps rom. Can I install the whole Alltel update or should I run it up to the customizations and install my cooked rom or just go straight for the newest sprint radio and cooked rom? My coverage seems to be spottier and drops evdo in more places and since I listen to music streams all day it gets rather annoying. I thought a newer radio might help. I have the latest alltel 30031 prl.

The radio update takes place when you flash, not during customizations.
I have heard varying reports of whether flashing to a non-gps will brick the phone so I haven't risked it.

I really need my phone so I don't want to risk it either. Does anyone know if I can just flash the radio ONLY via a flash card. I think I saw files for the radios somewhere.

i think you well only have an issue if you try to relock.. i going to downgrade to a non gps rom on my titan to send it back ill let you know what happens...

How did you get the 3.45.20 radio on your phone? Sprint only has the 3.45.02 radio version on their website. I noticed that sprint has unlimited everyting for 99.00/month. I need to do some contract negotiations with alltel.

this is the is the stock rom my new phone came is http://www.htc.com/us/FAQ_Detail.aspx?p_id=63&act=sd so im going to flash it to my old phone but leave it unlock cause i hear alot of people send them back like that anyways

i use stock Alltel ROM and radio. It has GPs Support as long as u patch it. search for alltel gps easy way.

any 3.xx radio is what is considered GPS. The OS rom itself isn't the actual danger. If that is flashed it will just not boot at worst case and can be reloaded from bootloader. Flashing radios is the risky part. Read up on download mode if you want more info, but the radio is the part to definitely not to revert. Personally at this point i wouldn't do any extra radio flashes than needed as i've even heard of some issues flashing from one 3.xx radio to another. Once you have ANY 3.xx radio it will be GPS ready with proper rom or files.
