Re: Bugs in Official Rom 3.56
I have a random lag when answering phone calls on my update. I thought it may be additional software I put on after upgrading so I hard reset and left all of them off and still had lagging when answering phone calls. Sometimes it would answer and sometimes it would just hang up on the caller(not even go to voicemail)

Re: Bugs in Official Rom 3.56
Are you guys talking about the New Sprint Touch/Vogue ROM Release date 7/21? If so, why is this in the Titan/Mogul Upgrade Forum instead of in the Touch/Vogue Forum?

There are also system based processes that run that increase RAM usage thru out the day (Gwes.exe 2.0 MBs start up/device.exe 2.5 MBs start up/filesys.exe 1.9 MB's start up/shell32.exe 1.3 MBs start up/cprog.exe 1.3 MBs start up. those are the big ones. The best thing is oxious and ram reclaim(memmaid) and also a soft reset per day should keep you at about at about 18/19 MB of free RAM. remember, your comm manager is running in the background after you use it. Hope this helps. |

Re: Bugs in Official Rom 3.56
I cringe every time I read "memory leak" in a post about windows mobile
In WM5, the overall ram load of the OS was a good bit lower, so it was harder to see these large chunks of memory getting allocated. WM6, with its poor handling of low memory, plus the seemingly crazed desire of the OS to allocate and hold onto memory, paired with "tweaks" boosting various buffers and caches (carried over from WM5 days, in most cases) lead to cries of "memory leaks!". I ran WM6 stock on a mogul for 6 months, and indeed it would *very slowly* creep up in memory usage. Anywhoo... WM6.1 stock - seems to me that once it reaches a stable working set of memory (ie, after you soft reset, and run every app you are going to normally run at least once, and you've allocated all buffers by accessing your storage card and internal store, and you've filled your glyphcach, etc...) then it's pretty darn stable. You want a bit more free memory? Reduce all those buffer sizes you bumped up in "Advanced Settings" (or that your rom chef bumped up) - WM6.1 & the mogul & a new sdhc class 6 card are all a lot faster, and can get by performance-wise with smaller buffers/caches - freeing up some memory for apps. For me, stock rom, on boot without HTC Home or HTC X, I'm looking at about 21mb free. My "steady state" was about 15mb, but then I took a hard look at my various tweak settings and was able to trim those back a bit (for example, I had about 3MB in various disk buffers - cut them down to about 1mb total) so now I'm a hair under 18mb free - steady, day after day. If you are seeing your free memory drop day by day, and you're sure no apps are running in the background, then indeed you have an application that is leaking memory. It's not the OS. And yeah, an extra 64mb really does make all this go away. The wife got a new touch, and I have a tilt for work. On both of these you just don't even think about memory. Sigh. |
