Actually, that's not true.

HTC did provide "software enhancements" to improve the graphics, along with WM6.1--but this has only been for "unbranded" (read non-AT&T) Tilts officially. And of course that can be ported to non-branded Tilts.

While the software enhancement are no drivers, they do significantly help with day to day activities on the device i.e. screen rotation.

Regardless, the success of these 3d drivers for regular activities probably won't be that successful and so far it's looking a bit unlikely that 2d will get done.

For alternatives? The 800w has both 2d and 3d hardware acceleration and of course the Diamond and Pro will too.

I haven't done my research on the pro yet, but do you think sprint will have this device? Not this exact device, but one similiar. I know this device is gsm enabled.

And No2chem you are fully correct. I know at&t have the capability but its only that they don't use it is what i'm saying. I know 3g has the potential to be incredibly fast.

Re: Progress with HTC Video Drivers

There seems to have been an update as of today making it work on all official 6.1 and may even be portable (anyone try the new drivers?):

Porting to other MSM7x00 devices
Many MSM7x00 based HTC devices have not had an official WM 6.1 upgrade yet. Rumor is they will be coming for a bunch of these in August / September. As far as we know, there is NO 6.0 ROM that is compatible with these drivers. As for the upcoming 6.1 ROMs, here are the telltale signs of possible compatibility:
  • DDI.DLL exports UpdateByCopy function
  • DDI.DLL exports UpdateByFlip function
  • DDI.DLL depends on DISPTOOLS.DLL
If those are present, the drivers may just work out of the box. If not, then they won't. For those ROMs that do not have this, a smart chef just may be able to port the Kaiser's DDI.DLL and all dependancies. (Good luck with that!)

That seems like good news!

Re: Progress with HTC Video Drivers

According to DCD, our DDIs don't depend on disptools and therefore, it won't work.

We'd need a DDI.dll from another device... which doesn't seem likely to work. We're SOL for now.
