I dont use magic x button, but I highly recommend QuickMenu as a replacement. It's an awesome task manager and it's folder expanding with in the start menu is also great. It also has a hibernate tool. Most important app on my device IMHO. And it's free.

Opera has always led to fits for me, memory drains as well. So far I am having great success without memory drains, but I dont use opera and finally figured out that my biggest memory drain was Mobile Shell 2.1.

I know this was no help, so gl.

Yes, I don't have your issue, I also use the Clear Temp, Memmaid and even Oxios Hibernate to ensure that the OS runs clean. I would say that this memory management is necessary to keep WM running fast.

One other program I forgot to mention that is always running is AE Button Plus....anyone have any issues with that one? I would imagine it is a program that runs with startup but these are mostly pretty well known problems. To answer the question I also do text...a lot...but I'm really crazy with the minimalist stuff on my phone. I love the HTC Home but I won't use it because it's a mem hog (as well as SPB and the others I have tried as well). I clear the text messages all the time because I don't want it cluttered, and I turn off predictive text because it does slow down the phone. I really think I'm doing everything I can to keep it running well because I don't like to wait for the phone to work. I just installed Mem Maid and I like it...so I'll start using that as well. The opera cache was at 0 also and I thought I never used it since the reset. I uninstalled IM+ just because I never use it and it doesn't really run well anyways. I really appreciate all of the help and hopefully we can nail down a definitive answer. I know the phone doesn't have the best memory management or whatever we want to call it but that 2 week timebomb seems to happen to me all the time. But since I wrote this the phone is back to a more "normal" type of speed so who knows if it's just something completely random that a few soft resets will fix.

one thing to try, is once a day pulling your battery for a few seconds and putting it back in. That seems to be the best thing for me to put the life back into my phone.

I don't doubt that this helps but to have to do this with a phone is a bit ridiculous...if only there were better ways to handle the scant memory we have available!

I played with a friend's Tilt and having gobs of memory made that phone an absolute DREAM to use!

I agree that we shouldn't have to deal with such crazy memory issues. You think pulling the battery is any different than soft-resetting? Also how long do you think you should pull it?

shouldnt be magic button, I've been using that since my Hitachi G1000, flawless function.

I don't think it's magic x button either, I've used it a long time. I have been looking into the phone more with Mem Maid now and honestly the biggest use of RAM I can see is the 1.5 that voice command uses, but thats a newer program on my phone and this has always been happening. I honestly think it's just the phone. How can you start with 20 megs free RAM on boot and then throughout the day use a few programs and even when theyre closed at the end have 9 free. That's just the phone.

I agree with what everyone else has stated - it sounds like a temp file/browser cache issue. Definitely find an app that will clear these out from time to time.

I still haven't nailed down what it is....I'm trying everything mentioned though. I pull the battery most every morning for a few minutes. I run Mem Maid quick clean scheduled at 8am. I also run a full Mem Maid sweep pretty much everyday (that should clean out temp files/cache files). In addition I also have a hard button being linked to Oxios Closeapps that I use repeatedly throughout the day. It is running pretty well, I think that's also a testament to DCD's ROM but it still has those same issues it always has. I still soft reset countless times during the day because it just gets bogged down. Quick reboot and it's running better. Something to do with this phone just makes it slow down as time goes on.
