What is the best custom rom for getting GPS to work right?
 

This may be a bad question but I am going to ask it anyway. My verizon 6800 currently has UTStarcom official rom version 3.35.651.2, radio version 3.42.02, PRL version 51056 and PRI version 1.35_002. It has the olipro 2.40 bootloader. I am having trouble with the GPS functionality. I attempted both google maps and live search, with an active and working Wifi connection to the internet, and all the right settings for the GPS hardware, but it doesn't find my location in either program. So I wanted to try upgrading to one of the custom roms using the kitchen software (which I was going to do anyway) and I was wondering if there is a specific custom rom that works best with GPS. If not then I was going to go with DCD 3.2.0.

Personally, I've never seen GPS affected by the ROM. Speed of connection, accuracy, and reliability are all dependent on the radio. While I'm not saying the ROM can't affect it, in my own experience I haven't noticed any difference between them. I've used just about every build of no2chem's ROMs since he first started playing with 6.1, and every one since GPS was unlocked has worked well with it.

The rest is the luck of your location, really.

many people have noticed a significant improvement in GPS reception with the new 3.42.30 radio.

try it and you'll see! (make sure to flash using a micro SD card)
