Upgrading to 3.35 on verizon xv6800
 

I just got my new verizon xv6800. My objective is to use a kitchen for a custom rom and to enable GPS Function on the phone. I have spent the last 2 hours researching this and am stuck. I downloaded the rom update from the official HTC website, 3.35. I was following a guide that I thought included verizon users in the guide but when I attempted to install the update, the software said invalid carrier ID. Made me realize this is for spring phones. But this rom is the only one I can find that is able to use the GPS functionality of the phone. Obviously I am missing something here and wanted to know what I have to do to install this rom, and if not, what is the verizon rom that works with GPS?

I was having the same problem and have gotten a solution (thanks to kashabrown)...

"why waste time incrementally upgrading your radio. You now have to run the SPL unlocking tool - there is a new one on the board by No2Chem - it is the one you want - not the 2.40 (old one) but the one listed - it makes your device run a bit faster. Run that tool, then find the latest radio - over @ XDA developers there is the latest radio you can find HERE: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=403280

To run the latest radio - you need to have a regular (NOT SDHC) SD card 2GB or less formatted to FAT32 and with small clusters - less than 2096MB or K - not sure - put the radio rom on the ROOT directory of the SD card - put the phone in bootloader mode (press power/camera and stick the stylus on the bottom (reset) at the same time) - then follow the instructions on your phone - you will get a grey screen asking you to press the power button to load the flash if you have done it right. Once you have that accomplished, flash the rom of your choice and you are good to go. After the radio flashes, put the phone back into bootloader mode before you flash..

Now I would liek to use th eunlocker but it says not to be used for non-gps radios. I have 1.30.60 radio and not even the 2.xx the unlocker refers too. How do I unlock it with this radio so I can flash with the newer one?

You run the 2.47 unlocker. Put the 3.42.30 Radio on a SD card, rename it to Titaimg.nbh and put it on the SD card. Force phone into bootloader and follow prompts. Build a ROM using the kitchen or load a custom ROM (search for)that is GPS compatable.

I flashed the No2Chem 2.47 following the directions and now my xv6800 will not turn back on when it is turned off (sleeps) or when I turn it off (put it to sleep). I have to soft reset. I then have full use of the phone as long as it doesn't sleep. What to do I do, now?? I don't want to install the radio update for my xv6800 giving me gps capabilities until I resolve this issue. Any takers??

Ok... I searched and found other listings... being new at this, you almost have to have pictures with color by number. I was under the impression that you could load spl 2.47 and not have to load anything else and the phone would work correctly. That is not the case. When you hit the power button to turn the screen off, it will not turn back on. You have to install the radio AND the dcd as well as the verizon cab. It's actually a 4 step process of loading things onto your xv6800. Search for "xv6800 for verizon". There are 4 links that you need to download files. Read all of the posts under the xv6800. GA. Medic has some good pointers and helps to simplify the process.
