verizon
Can i flash the sprint offical rom on a verizon phone, then exit the customizations and it will work fine?
This is a stock 6800 from verizon |
Re: verizon
At that point, you will have the radio associated with the official rom. You then need to flash your device with one of the custom roms out there - DCD/No2Chem/Nexvision, etc..understand the point of flashing with the "official spring rom" on your verizon phone is to acquire a newer radio rom. Again, after you do that, you need to re-enter the bootloader (power/camera - reset) and flash a custom rom from any of the above three rom authors - DCD's seem to be the most stable, No2Chem's seem to have more cutting edge features, and Nexvision is a combo of both - it's up to you!

Re: verizon
I dont want anything custom, i guess what i was asking is just like the vogue, can i just flash that radio / rom then dont run the customizations? or im forced to run a custom rom

Re: verizon
Well, not really. Unfortunately for us Verizon users, VZW has not given us an official rom with GPS and REV. A speeds, so we are forced to use the "radio rom" from the sprint official rom release, then utilize one of the custom ones out there. Trust me, the custom roms work better, are faster, offer more features than any stock rom would. Need to kind of read some more here and at XDA developers and you will begin to understand more.
Hope that helps... |
Re: verizon
Actually, if you don't run the Sprint customizations you can run the Sprint ROM on Verizon (I did for a couple of hours when I first upgraded my phone). You'll have to get the phone reauthorized (the whole a-key thing) by calling tech support, and you'll probably have to set up the data connection by hand, but it should work.

Re: verizon
JimNutt,
So your saying we can apply the Sprint upgrade as follows? (please confirm) 1) Apply Sprint upgrade fully 2) Re-activate phone through tech support? or can you use the over the air activation (*288 SEND)? 3) Manually enter data connection information as follows: a) Settings --> Connections --> Connections b) Setup a "Dial-up" connection over the cellular modem ussing #777 as the dial in number Also do you know if you can back out of the upgrade if it does not work? |
Re: verizon
P.S. I have a Mogul also from when I was on Sprint, so I'm going to test upgrade a little on it first.
But my plan is with Verizon right now. |
