ActiveSync won't let me update rom, disconnects everytime
 
I am trying to update to the VetVito rom, but ActiveSync is being the same *** it always is. I am on Windows XP SP3. I can get it to connect initially, and then I click the Rom update and get all the way to the part where it brings up the progress bar on the computer screen and the phone goes intro tricolor mode then the grey screen with the progress bar, right then you can hear the sound Windows makes when you unplug a USB device and various notifications pop up that say either, "THE USB device has malfunctioned, or it brings up the found new hardware wizard sometimes and installs Qualcomm CDMA something and Microsoft USB Sync and still drops the connection, sometimes drop and regains and drops again the USB connection but by then I've lost the ROM update, or I get a USB device not recognized sometimes, or sometimes I get a Your hardware was not installed properly and may malfunction. Either way, it just NEVER works or very rarely.

I've tried everything. I disabled firewalls and cut off my antivirus, I have 2 computers I'm trying, turned off my internet router, I have 2 different USB cables, the latest ActiveSync (4.5), tried using different usb ports on the computer, can someone please help me?

Did you try turning off the advanced functionality in the USB to PC function in Settings/Connections? I've found that it's very unreliable with that on and have frequently had to disable it to succeed.

Beyond that, I'd recommend flashing from memory card. It's faster and more reliable in my experience.

After all this, can you start up your device normally?
if yes
go to start=programs=activesync=menu=connections uncheck
Synchronize all PCs using this connection:
and then try again

Yes I can start it up by taking the battery out or doing a soft reset. This that you posted doesn't work though, the minute I do it it won't connect at all because the USB is how I connect to the computer, and the Rom Update utility needs to connect to the phone via the USB


I have an 8 gig sd card, so yea how do I flash from that?

Make sure it's formatted FAT32, then throw the NBH file in the root and name it "TITAIMG.nbh" and enter the bootloader (Hold Power+Camera and press the soft-reset button with the stylus). Then follow the on-screen directions.

Just tried that, still same thing. Now it just brings up an authenticating dialogue box on the phone before connecting to USB, but still it'll hold the connection all the way until it comes time for the progress bar shows up on the screen, then it drops it and makes that noise Windows make when you plug/unplug a peripheral USB device. In the 3 color mode, it reads TITA100, SPL2.06.0000, CPLD-9.

WHere do I find TITAIMG.nbh? The rom update utility for VetVito is named s525.exe.

Ok thanx everybody. I got it. I download that hardspl240 from another thread, ran that, and it left my phone stuck in the 3 color mode and had me scared because I couldn't get an activesync anymore now that the phone won't boot into anything but that screen, even after removing the battery, but I ran the Vito Rom Update Utility anyways and it pushed straight through

im having this same problem, but cannot find the Vito Rom Update Utility
