How do I remove programs that were autoinstalled by kitchen?
Used the kitchen for my current build and S2U2 is now out of date by several versions. I have to remove the current version before i upgrade but the current version is like slipstreamed in via the kitchen. How do I upgrade?
Don't tell me i have to redo the whole device to upgrade one piece of software... |

I would like to know also? But that has not stopped me from cooking another in the mean time.

Re: How do I remove programs that were autoinstalled by kitchen?
thats it once they are cooked into a rom they cannot be uninstalled.

Are you serious? That's so stupid. I either have to flash every few weeks now or install everything manually. Is there a way to script out CAB installs like the auto update sprint does on a hard reset? That would solve the problem...

If you don't like it, simply don't chose it in the first place and install the program manually. That way you can uninstall it anytime you want. (advice: I'd be careful what you call stupid... esp with all the work that is put into the Kitchen). |
Re: How do I remove programs that were autoinstalled by kitchen?
This is the way kitchens work. It builds the applications in as thought they came standard. If you're going to want to upgrade a specific application, then that's the sort of application you should avoid building in and instead install it manually. This is normal.

try installing S2U2 1.05 (latest version) directly on your device, and it should prompt to uninstall the previous version. i never cook OEM's or programs into a ROM that receive such frequent updates. here's the latest version.

i agree with the above poster, something that updates almost weekly isnt something you should cook through a kitchen unless you like to flash alot (like me!!!) but would work using UC or doing it yourself

By defination you can't edit or delete any of the ROM information, so who's stupid now? OK, maybe that was a bit harsh -- but seriously if you don't really understand the concept maybe you shouldn't be mucking around with the rom, and just stick to cab installs. |

Anyhow, thanks for the responses guys. I'll cook the cabs into the autoinstallers from now on. On another note, has anyone else noticed how freakin slow 6.1 threaded SMS is compared to cody's version? When you send a message it takes forever to update. Even just loading a message takes a long time. The only thing i like better about 6.1's version is that it's integrated into the standard messaging...so you can import/export/save your texts. |
Re: How do I remove programs that were autoinstalled by kitchen?
codys threaded sms is much much better imho. i have the same slow problem with the 6.1 txting. i type much faster than it can produce the letters on the screen. very frustrating, especially as much as i text....maybe ill try the kitchen 3.49....im still running vetvito's black pill

I had this problem that I would type a couple of words then look at the screen and it would still be typing it out... I found a solution by accident (at least it seems like it works for me). When you open the conversation in the 6.1 threaded text tap in the box with your finger and it will type alot faster. Seems like it solved the problem in the no2chem 5067 and the 3.49 roms from the kitchen but I would like other opinions on it. I figured that out totally by accident, I almost dropped my phone as I was texting and hit that part of the screen then after I noticed it actually kept up with my typing. Now I do that everytime I open a text conversation. |
