New Rom
 

Hey Ive had my Mogul for awhile now and have installed several apps, and changed the styles and looks even a little reg. editor. Yet I have never tried these "Custom ROMS." I just hard rest my device so iam ready to start yet i dont have a clue of what to do. Ive tried to read these instructions but i just cant follow. Iam interested in whatever "Reva A" is? can someone tell me. and of course the custom roms. I have wm6 when i bought it, it already had the newest offical rom and if it didnt i wouldnt have a clue how to upgrade. So can someone please find the time to help me out with this Reva A and custom ROMS??? THanks so much

By the way what is the pros and cons of custom rooms, along with what is "flashing" roms

flashing is justa term used to refer to installing a new rom...if ur wanting a custom rom read this first...bout as easy as it gets http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=9927....if ur wanting to go with an official sprint rom with rev a and gps just go to the titan upgrade section her on geeks and at the top there is a sticky about it with links to download the official rom...once downloaded just plug ur phone in via activsynce and it will coach u along with the steps....if ur going custom i suggest a dcd rom or a no2chem rom...im currently running a no2chem rom on my mogul...and again do a search for either dcd or no2chem roms and u will get results for them both...any further assistance needed reply in this thread or feel free to PM me....

do what caddieguy02 just, recommended. for 2 days i ran apps, played with the stock rom. then ifinally got the courage to flash my phone, and it just made the 100x times better. they truth is, i dont know why i didnt do it before. just make sure you download all the software before you start. makes the flashing process a lil bit smoother. p.s. the radio was stuck like at 13% or something like that for a while but dont freak out, lol but thanks to pcc family i gave birth to my new baby without a problem :mrgreen:

FYI if you are using the latest official rom (3.35) you already have rev A.... It's just faster internet speeds....

so do new roms speed up your device... i mean whats the point of them (sorry if i sound stupid)??? and why is it best to stick to dcd or no2chem roms.

Features and extra RAM are the main reasons, plus bugs get fixed that the stock roms have... One of the best things about the custom roms is most of them have windows mobile 6.1, which has threaded text messaging (think IM chat). They aren't really going to be much/any faster, although the new no2chem roms have working direct draw which greatly increases the performance of playing videos....

I stick with no2chem roms as most of the other roms out are based on his stuff... Maybe that is the same with dcd (not sure) but his roms include a bunch of apps and such that I find unnecessary...

k well i guess iam about to try to install one of these roms i know i can google it but does anyone have a good link for one the newest roms that you believe to be pretty good??? if all else fails i can still restor my phone to default settings no matter what right? i mean doin a hard reset of course

doing a hard reset will not put it back to a regular rom, it just resets whatever rom you have on there back to the way it was when you first flashed it.

to go back to the original, you'll have to flash the sprint rom 3.35 (a link is in a sticky in this forum).

FYI if you are flashing a custom rom you will have to unlock your phone first (a link to the unlocker is also in a sticky in this forum).

check the no2chem rom threads in this forum for the latest. 5060 I believe is the latest stable no2chem release, but if you are feeling daring, want working direct draw, and a lot more memory, flash 5069 (there are a few bugs but none are major)

just click the link in his first post on here to his ftp site and you'll find all the versions there. you'll also need the RUU to flash it which should be in the same thread as the unlocker I think....
