IMAP with WM6.1??? HELP!
 

My stock carrier ROM from ACS was running WM6.

I upgraded to new radios 3.35.04 and No2Chem 5060.

Now on WM6.1, under messaging, Outlook does not appear, just text messaging and setup new account. (found another way to get to outlook, but it use to just be in messaging.)

I was using IMAP for GMail.

But when setting up new e-mail account, it only gives you the option to 'automatically download config', which I do not want. Auto sets GMail up with POP3.

According to Google's web site, you have to set the account up manually for IMAP, which is what I did in WM6.0

After setting up GMail with auto config, I go back to modify account settings, and the part for incomming mail server, I can put imap.gmail.com, but the bottom drop down box is grayed out, with POP3 selected.

So, my question is, did I miss something in the PPCkitchen? Or is IMAP not an option in WM6.1?

If so, I will go back to WM6 until that is fixed in WM6.1

Any thoughts, corrections?

Mistype the the @gmail.com part. Like soandso@gmail.co. It will then give you all the options to setup the account as you wish.

I've setup IMAP Gmail accounts from scratch more than once... there was no need to mistype anything. All I did was uncheck the "automatically download config", and proceed to properly setup the account.

are you running WM6.1? on the Titan, at least, if you fill out a gmail account e-mail address it'll automatically set the POP3 settings. not that it 'doesn't work,' but i prefer IMAP.

I am running WM6.1, and I am using IMAP with GMail.

Uncheck the "get settings automatically" and it won't "get settings automatically". Simple.

Problem is, in the No2Chem 5060 build, I have found out it is a know problem with that ROM. You can not uncheck the automatically check settings, it just says next and checks the settings for you.

So you have to misspell your account and then the automaytic check fails and then you have all the options you want to manually set it up.

i wasn't the one with the problem, just helping to clarify. i am using IMAP with my gmail acct :)

In 6.1 it automatically checks WITHOUT asking you. And since it finds instructions for doing Gmail through POP3, it just goes with those settings without asking you for your own. As noted, misspelling it is the only way to bypass.

The other option, and my choice, is to make a CAB to input the e-mail settings automatically. This skips over the need to input anything manually, and makes getting up and running about a reflash a lot easier.

Yay! I have gmail using IMAP again. Pop3 sucks!
