Re: GPS on alltel 6800 - easy way

Strangely, the GPS 'sort of' worked on my HTC 6800 with the original wm6.0 ROM. Once I updated it to 6.1 I haven't been able to get it to work since, and this patch is no exception. Just keeps complaining about not being able to find the GPS receiver.

I know 6.1 is *SUPPOSED* to be set up so that the GPS "just works" but it doesn't, and that is what annoys me :(

I have the Alltel HTC 6800 with WM 6.1 installed and I still cant get Google Maps nor Windows Live Search to activate the internal GPS. Suggestions?

I also have to Alltel HTC PPC 6800 and GPS worked great when I had the 6.0 and the four files loaded recommended here. Once I upgraded it worked until the one month free from alltel for there application alltel navigation once the free one month stopped all my GPS does is Seeking GPS satellite (0) then flashes GPS active then back to Seeking GPS satellite (0). I can stand out in the yard with it pointed straight up and never find any satellites! HELP! TIA

Hmm odd. Did you try doing everything in the first post again? It may have lost the PDE settings in the registry too.

Hello all,
I'm also a noob (sort of)
I have a USCC ppc6800 I want to flash over to alltel.
Will this work for my phone if I haven't activated it on the alltel network yet?
also Verizon is acquiring the alltel network here, will that matter? should I wait and flash to verizon when they take over?
thanks for any help.

No you can probably get Alltel to run it. Just get the 3.52 ROM from the US HTC website. It should be taken care of after that. You may have to play with QPST a bit though.

I just run the alltel 3.52.671.9 (Radio 3.42.50),
RUU_TITAN_ALLTEL_WWE_3.52.671.9_RS_TITAN_Alltel3.4 2.50_NV2.02_PPST_Ship.exe
with the 6800 in bootloader mode?

my bootloader says
SPL 1.07
CPLD 9

That should work. After that then there may be some tweaking needed in QPST (see the Alltel GPS Quick & Easy thread by Shadowtech for help on getting QPST). I'm not sure exactly what would need to be set but you could look around. After you program it for Alltel then it may need activation.

Re: GPS on alltel 6800 - easy way

Hi, I still could not get this to work. Here is my information listed below.
Using a Alltel HTC 6800
Windows Mobile 6.1
Rom version: 3.52.671.9
Radio version: 3.42.50
Location setting is on (start->settings->phone->services->location setting->get settings->on)
GPS setting: (start/settings/system/external gps)
Program Tab: Com 4
Hardware Tab: gps hardare port= none, baudrate = 4800 baud
Access Tab: check 'manage gps automatically'

Google Maps says, Initializing GPS then comes up with an error stating none could be found.

I tried setting the GPS Settings of Google Maps to "Managed by Window" and "Manually" to match what was entered in 'External GPS' and neither worked.

Note:
Then your Gps Com ports are wrong in google maps
(tried two different ways)
you didnt soft reset
(yes, a couple of times and even waited 20 seconds)
you didnt let windows manage gps
(did so in Google Maps and 'External GPS')
or you didnt install to main memory.
(did so here to)

Just don't understand what went wrong. Any help out there?

Did you put the phone in Diagnostic Mode and run QPST?
