Reverting back to Stock Verizon will break Data

I wanted everyone to know about this. I was having a problem with receiving flix messages (was getting 10pics instead of an actual video), so after no progress, a different ROM i decided to go back to the stock Verizon ROM. After I did that, my data is basically broken. Every time I put in my password and try to get on the internet it says my password is wrong. I checked and the password is blank, so i put it in again and the same thing happens. Tried flashing a pre-GPS ROM and didn't help. I had Verizon "reset" my Data and that did not help. It seems as though reverting back to the stock radio somehow has blocked me getting data now. So be warned, if you go back to the stock vzw rom, you will loose data and have to get a new phone (sending me one out Monday).

Anyone else have this experience?

Try this thread; apparently others have been successful.

Verizon - Restoring your xv6800 to a Stock Verizon ROM

edit: sorry, I see you have posted the problem there also. Good luck!

yeah same experience here, like i posted. i think there should be a disclaimer on the thread, something like "only use this if you are sending it in for repair/refurb."

ohh, and my refurb has a dent in the side, and an old battery case. cheap a** phone companies...rawwr

I had the exact same problem I think it has something to do with the a key in epst before it was greyed out after it was blank and editable

Wait, you reverted from a gps rom to a pre-gps one? I'm pretty sure that doesn't work, didn't ImCokeMan make a big deal about it and even unsticky the relocker?

Re: Reverting back to Stock Verizon will break Data

you have to be able to get back to the stock rom, what if you want to send it back? everything else works fine just not data

I had data after going back to the stock Verizon rom. I used the file I posted in the other thread.

so you're telling me you were running a 3.35 rom, and reverted to the vzw 2.09 rom?

same thing happened to me. I had to call verizon to do a DMU reset

Re: Reverting back to Stock Verizon will break Data

what did u ask them? I asked them to and they were a little confused and said they did, maybe not. probably not. did they do it without question?

Re: Reverting back to Stock Verizon will break Data

they sent me to data support
if you have an error code 11 ppp connection they will send you to data support. Then you can ask if they can perform a DMU reset. In total it took 15 minutes.

Re: Reverting back to Stock Verizon will break Data

It never said error code 11 ppp connection or whatever that is lol. It just wouldnt keep the password in the username password input area. or is that the error? oh well. hopefully wont go through it again!

yeah fri, sorry forgot to update, but i reverted back to stock to test to see if this will work, and once i asked for a DMU reset, the guy sent me to tech support. took about 15 minutes in total, but i got my stock ROM back, and data was working. flashed back to DCD.

I still can't wrap my mind around the fact that you reverted from the GPS rom to 2.09, this is not supposed to work. Read ImCokeMan's threads about the Titan relocker. Can you tell me exactly the process you went through?

On another note, though, if data is broken, go online, choose activate equipment, and enter your phone's ESN but change the last number, and then change back to your phone. This resets data. No need to deal with ridiculous customer support.

Re: Reverting back to Stock Verizon will break Data

i only did it because i was bringing it back to the store for a brand new one. the refurb they gave me was a disaster. and i couldnt leave my cooked ROM on there. and i just flashed back to stock VZ ROM using this thread i came upon by geckotek http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=21161

of course, it broke my data like i knew it would, but since i was bringing it in anyway, tried a DMU reset and it worked(:

I was having problems with some stuff and wanted to put the stock back on to see some stuff. Obviously it does work now, just sucks i went through getting a new phone, but i guess it doesnt break data after all.

While flashing my phone back to stock I ran into the data problem as well. I then flashed to No2Chem and was having a hard time getting it to install to Olipro2.40 Once I flashed the No2Chem my phone completely died....at first a red LED, now absolutely no power going to it at all....They have a phone being sent to me but without being able to turn this one on and get everything back to stock...it has me a little worried....anyone have any ideas?

That sounds like download mode and the reason i warn people against this, as said before it may look like it works to revert to pre-gps, but its very dangerous. I hope this helps clear it up for some.

I think I am permanately bricked....would that be a fair assessment ImCokeMan? There is no power on the phone at all.

if you cant get bootloader and screen is black no matter what you do...
if that's the case, then your stuck in download mode

What exactly is download mode? any purpose? any info on how or why it goes into it or how you can get out?

Sounds like its time for the "gee I didn't realize it dropped out of my pocket getting into the car before I backed up" trick!
