Re: BuildOS - What is status of Proxy?
This is the closest thread I can find to my problem. Sorry for resurrecting it as my first post!
I am trying to use BuildOS for the first time. Have done nothing much else except gotten .net 2.0 installed. Seems like someone said somewhere to do that for BuildOS to work. I see here that the previosu poster was trying 3.5! I have 1.1 installed, and now 2.0. I just want to just see what BuildOS can do before I start actually messing with my phone. When I try to start it, it asks for user name and password and an optional email address. Then it hangs for a while. Finally, it comes back and declares the "Server Unavailable". "The request failed with HTTP status 504: Gateway Timeout." Click OK and it says "Login has expired". This is obviosusly authentication through the proxy server. I login to the network on this laptop every day. I closed down and restarted the laptop anyhow. When I started Firefox, it asks for a proxy authentication, so I know it worked. Tried Buildos again, and the same error. :-( I even opend IE to make sure it wasn't lost, and it can get through the proxy. If I try the updater directly, I click next, and it says checking for a new version. Then it pops up an Error. Can't connect to the server. More says Probably the server that is hosting the update information is offline or not reachable. Please try again at a later time. Neither give options to set proxy settings. Obviously not getting them from the Internet Explorer Options. Any ideas where I can set the proxy so I can at least get started? |
Re: BuildOS - What is status of Proxy?
My proxy settings are a server name, and port 8080. Maybe it's the 8080 part instead of just port 80? In the updater directory, there is Settings.ini file with:
[PROXY] type=automatic username= password= http= ftp= autoconfigurl= Can I change type to "manual"? Username and password are obvious. http:= is not so clear? proxyserver.company.com:8080? Or what goes there? Where can I set up the port number? |
Re: BuildOS - What is status of Proxy?
I could never get it to work under a proxy.

I'd recommend that you check out either the #ppcgeeks or #ppckitchen IRC chat room... (a great place for help)

Re: BuildOS - What is status of Proxy?
That's extra funny! IRC is blocked through the proxy here. The chat link page at PPCKitchen is also blocked. That's too bad. This laptop is much faster than my windows computer at home. It is only a single CPU 1.2 Ghz machine. My dual core runs Ubuntu Linux. When I used my home PC last night, it was dog slow playing with PPCKitchen. I think the USB might be a 1.0 also, which will really make this a PITA if I get to the point of flashing the ROM!
And before you say it, I can't use this laptop at home. It requires a VPN connnection that sends it to the same proxy server or it will shut down the network drivers after 5 minutes. |
