Bricked Alltel Phone. Any help?

I was trying to upgrade the ROM to the Sprint latest ROM. I followed the "Alltel Success Story" thread instructions exactly. Used Olipro 2.4 and latest Sprint ROM. Got up to the "touch screen to begin" screen. Then I ran the DCD kitchen without touching the screen or allowing Sprint customizations to run. And now my phone is stuck on the black HTC splash screen. No bootloader. Pressing Camera + power + reset does not help. Hard reset does not help.
Any ideas?

your missing the radio on the phone. download the 3.35 radio from the ftp and flash the phone over to that.

Re: Bricked Alltel Phone. Any help?

Since I cannot get to a bootloader, the Radio RUU returns "Error 206", communication error. Is there any other way to load a bootloader?

well the error 206 points to a memory allocation issue, like maybe the computer you are flashing from was low on memory maybe.
You "should" have the radio if you did indeed flash the 3.35 Sprint rom, so that might not be a problem.
have you tried restarting your pc, then flashing again?
Does your computer make the usual noise from ActiveSync when you plug the USB cable into it?
what happens when you hit Camera + Power + reset? does it go into bootloader mode at all, and if so, what does it say on the screen there?

Re: Bricked Alltel Phone. Any help?

Did the dcd rom load ok, but then the phone wouldn't start? If so, sounds like you did everything correctly, but missed a step. When you are stuck on the splash screen after an upgrade, you need to take the battery out for 30 seconds, then put it back in and do a hard reset (hold 2 soft keys and push soft reset button). Obviously, this is a very easy fix, and it sounds like you might have bigger problems, but I always like to try the easy solutions first.

Re: Bricked Alltel Phone. Any help?

The DCD did flash Ok, but the phone did not boot back up. It is stuck on the black HTC screen. Hard reset works, but after the erase the phone goes back to the black HTC screen. Holding down Camera-power-reset also gives me either the HTC screen or no screen.

Re: Bricked Alltel Phone. Any help?

Just to check, you have removed the battery for 30 seconds like magoo66 recommended?
if so, not sure what to try next. sometimes if its a totally black screen, you can take a bright light and shine on it to see if there IS anything listed there such as bootloader or anything.

Re: Bricked Alltel Phone. Any help?

If you can't get to bootloader its not able to be reflashed. Were you able to get there before? You need to hold power and camera down the entire time and then soft reset, don't release until it shows the bootloader. It sounds like you know this since you got a different result when pushing it, but did the rom you flashed have an SPL or Radio in it?

Did you remove the battery after your flash yet?

Re: Bricked Alltel Phone. Any help?

I just charged the battery to full capacity. The battery was out of the phone for an hour. Put it back, ran the hard reset. The hard reset works fine. But reboot brings me back to HTC splash screen. I even get the 3.35 rev id appear in red at the bottom of the screen. Then it dissappears, and the machine stays on the HTC splash screen.

The RUU file was called RUU_TITAN_SPRINT_WWE_3.35.651.2_RS_TITAN_3.35.04_4 350H_SPCS_AM_Ship.exe

Oh Fudge! Is this the 4350 auto-bricker that cokeman has been warning everyone about? I wish someone would go through the ftp site and remove those instances. All I wanted was to fix the bluetooth on this phone, which would not connect to my car's bluetooth without locking up. If Alltel or HTC would have fixed this, I would not be in this state. Oh well, live and learn. Paperweight, anyone?

Re: Bricked Alltel Phone. Any help?

Mine is kind of hosed up right now also. Only I didn't use the 4350 auto-bricker (lol). Glad I decided to go with the alltel insurance incase I can't recover the phone. According to what the rep told me (I know, I know) it covers LOST, stolen, or damaged beyond repair. $3.00 a month, $95.00 at the time of replacement.
