RAM Upgrade.

Is it possible to just upgrade the RAM in the Mogul? I know PPC Techs does RAM upgrades for a lot of phones but it would seem nothing for the Mogul, has anyone see this?

I did a search to no avail. sorry if it's a popular thread somewhere if you could point me there that would be appreciated. I would imagine someone has brought this up before.

I believe some techs in China have attempted to add, replace with no luck. I believe the Mogul takes a one of a kind memery module and that the system built in is set no to be larger amount od ram. My last check they could not get it to work long enough to do settings. Some one here may know more.

I would have thought that an Authorized Sprint/Nextel Representative wouldn't had to ask this question ?

i already posted a thread asking about ram upgrades a while back, but i wouldn't mind this one... unless it's merger with my original thread.

Umm, I am pretty sure that a "Ram Upgrade" would not have anythign to do with Sprint itself smartass. I am not an authorized HTC representative but keep your hatin'.

Haters everywhere we go.

I don't understand; what hate ?

I figured Sprint people have the inside scoop on the stuff.

Car dealers don't make the cars; but the manufacturers give them all sorts of inside info.

Re: RAM Upgrade.

Well not on RAM upgrades haha cause it wouldn't be supported by HTC in any way.I get inside information on stupid things that don't matter and plans that are up and coming... thats about it! haha

Re: RAM Upgrade.

Off topic, how is sprint going to support their everything plans on the Mogul since the don't seem to support quite a few things their offering ?

bradynapier 04-12-2008 07:02 PM

Re: RAM Upgrade.

The everything plans simply give you the ability to do the features without being charged. You still need to "have a device capable of handling the features your paying for."

Sprint would not stop you from paying $9.99 for Sprint TV if you had a LG LX160 which is quite obviously not capable of the option. It is not the representatives choice if you call to add the feature.

Now, the simply everything just says everything is included. Your device has to handle the rest.

I have spoke to people high up in Sprint about their blocking of Sprint TV and they weren't even aware of it. They are, however, looking into it and I will post a response as soon as I can.

This question has been asked many times before.

Although there are many threads on this here at PPCGeeks, there is one thread that is productive and alive on XDA.

Re: RAM Upgrade.

Brady, please stop saying you work for Sprint. It's like a car salesman at a Ford dealer saying they work for Ford. There's nothing wrong with who you work for, but it's not Sprint.

You work for a third party vendor that re-sells Sprint. I would also love to know who you have spoken to in CE about Sprint TV not working on the Mogul.

Yes they would. The system won't allow Sprint TV to be added to a line with the LX 160 because the LX 160 is not an EVDO phone. The EVDO SOC code has to be on the account to have Sprint TV, and if you try to add the EVDO plan to a 160, it will spit out an error. Now, on the Mogul, it would work and you could be charged without being able to use the feature. Feel free to try it. Unless your systems are different than ours. I know corporate Sprint's systems won't allow it.

Brol1k, Sprint is right now working with Microsoft to get a working MMS solution, hopefully by the summer 6.1 upgrade. There's information about it on WMexperts.

sprint is working with MS....now there's a good combination if i've ever seen one. (expect release soon, but it won't work, or will crash, wait another 6 months and it should be hotfixed enough to work!)

Re: RAM Upgrade.

Ya, FDT will let me add things that I should not add to phones.

Either way, I was making a point. I work for Sprint as much as any corporate employee does, we are basically a franchise... so if you work for McDonalds but its a "franchised" mcdonalds - do you not work for McDonalds, just resell it?

LoL, either way - I am here to help with Sprint issues and I will also say that I do so I can continue to help people with their issues - whether you want to be a douche bag about it or not - you are welcome to.

I have already resolved quite a few billing issues for people and a few other small things on peoples accounts.

Re: RAM Upgrade.

I am a former "Sprint" corporate employee and now work as a "reseller" of Sprint services. You are both correct, Corporate cannot add features that are not compatible but third parties can. Seems like a strange thing because most 3rd parties are not aware of the damage they can do to someone's bill by adding incorrect features. In your example of adding Sprint TV to a LG160, third parties can add that in the billing system. Then when the customer is using internet features and gets the next bill they can expect to see Data charged at $.003/kb because the incorrect code is on the account. Just because you can add something, doesn't mean that you should.

Re: RAM Upgrade.

yes, I agree. There are a lot of idiotic resellers out there to. We get people coming in that got some shady **** done to their Bill and I am extremely happy that Sprint is downsizing their resellers from 2,000 to like 500 ... it will make for a nice change and a great increase in the customer service.

And to you, Chappy, who says "you are an idiot" and gives me bad rep - understand that we both work for Sprint. You can have your hatred towards third parties if you would like, but we currently make up around 28% of sprints sales - 2 points lower then corporate stores .. I work for and contribute to the Sprint name as much as any corporate employee does.

i've seem many threads on this subject get off track (like this one), but the one posted over on xda (link supplied by saumaun. he's a quick SOB) is the best one and has managed to stay level headed and mostly on topic.

whoever invents a way to do this will be making pretty good money methinks.

Thank goodness. I work for radioshack and the things that I have had to fix from them ma-and-pop shops....But the consumer will still return to them simply because they beat our price on the handset. I heard Sprints biggest beef with them was the rate plan they signed them up on. Almost always the $39.99, not really much for revenue.

bradynapier 04-15-2008 02:12 AM

Re: RAM Upgrade.

No - Sprint's beef was the fact that the stores couldn't attach things such as data or what-not... they didn't know how to sell.. horrible...

I had a customer come in today that said a store in Minnetonka told her that if she "added a new line she could get a 20% discount which would pay for the new line even though you dont need it, keep it in a cupboard as a backup phone" - I asked her where she worked, she said Comcast - sure enough theres a 20% off Comcast discount!

Pathetic! Sprint loses money and the customer gets ripped off... I reported the store immediately!
