indeed. MS just manages stuff terribly. Like Ram for example. Why does my old 200mhz/64M Ram desktop run faster than this 400 MHz/64Ram phone? It has lots less on it (maybe the difference is the OS? It crept with windows, and worked rather nicely with linux.

when it all boils down, the real reason Linux is better all-in-all is because it's a collaboration of hundreds, thousands, maybe even millions of minds. there are no two opinions or experiences that are identical, so open source will always succeed.

When you pay a select group of people to write a OS like WM, there's no way everything can be covered. If Microsoft got everything right the first time, would there really need to be 3 service packs for XP?

Very true, and that's not including the 18 million hotfix packs that get downloaded either. (granted, if you use linux you know that the update manager pops up often, but it doesnt force you to restart most of the time either.

I remember back during the win98 and i think win2k, during install it would have to restart like 6 times, sometimes it would lock up during install, hell, i've had XP lock up during install. Either way, I'm hoping for the SD card drivers soon so I can put a real OS on this phone, or at least the Raphael (hopefully it will have the option of running android, and it better have more RAM or i'm not buying htc anymore, i dont like getting shafted, the IRS does it enough to me)

i can deal with linux having updates often, BECAUSE I DIDNT HAVE TO PAY A DIME FOR IT!! lol When microsoft has the balls to charge $300+ for a piece of crap like vista, I want it to work with at least some fluidity!

absolutely correct. Not to mention, have you played with the window managers and gui's in linux? Anything you could ever want. You dont like gnome? Try kde, or xfce, enlightenment, icewm, etc etc

oh to be free of Microsoft altogether... what a wonderful world this would be haha

anyways, let me see if I got this right...
we're just waiting to get the SD slot driver working right? that way we fit the OS on an SD card instead of the illequipt flash memory dedicated to the OS, correct?

We don't know that for 100% certain at this point, shapiror06, but it does SEEM that way, yes.

okay. how about the radio and phone features, aside from the PPC aspects of the phone? if this works, i definitely want to still be able to make calls, send texts and picture messages.
