radio upgrade - lower signal
Did anyone else get a lower signal since upgrading? My friend has a older model and he always has one more bar than I do, I thought this was odd since we're on the same network...in the same room...

Re: radio upgrade - lower signal
could it maybe be the PRL that's now on the phone? some of us had newer PRL's than were on the latest ROM updates. Like we had 60611 or 60711 and the ROM had overwrote it with 60610
I haven't noticed any signal differences on the new ROM, just the fact that the 60711 PRL gave me issues getting on EvDO so I stuck with 60611. |

Re: radio upgrade - lower signal
I have also experienced the problem of getting MUCH lower reception after the upgrade to the new Radio.
Now I now have a new phone since I broke my last one, so I dont know it maybe it is hardware related, but places I got lots of reception before I have almost none. Any ideas on this one? Also I checked my PRL already and am running the newest one. -Sayajin |
Re: radio upgrade - lower signal
The number of bars is not a universal measurement of signal strength. It can only indicate relative signal strength for your device with your ROM release on your carrier. In other words, three bars on your device is a stronger signal than one bar on your device, but you cannot relate three bars on your device with 3.35 to the number of bars on your device with a different ROM or to the number of bars on another device with the same or a different ROM release.
More bars in more places? Meaningless...the carrier could just have the manufacturer adjust the bar graph to give that. The only real indicator is have you experienced more call quality issues or more dropped calls? |
Re: radio upgrade - lower signal
Yea, I learned long ago to ignore the bars....
I actually am experiencing dropped calls and CRAPPY reception in places in my house (my couch) that I NEVER had problems with before. -Sayajin |
Re: radio upgrade - lower signal
You can not compare different carrier reception by the device and radio version. Certain carrier may have more towers, signal in certain areas..
