Microsft Silverlight!

Check this out!

Microsoft Silverlight is a cross-platform, cross-cross browser, and cross-device plug-in for delivering the next generation of media experiences and rich interactive applications for the Web. Now with new mobile device focused implementations of Silverlight, developers and designers can easily take existing code, assets, skills, and tools and deliver superior user experiences on mobile devices. With initial support for Windows Mobile and Nokia S60 (including any S60 based handset) mobile operating systems Silverlight provides broad reach into the mobile space.

Has anyone tried this?

Looks like it's just a mobile version of Silverlight. Hell if I'm gonna install it though, I barely use it on my desktop except on MS's web site, lol.

I've played with Silverlight. It seems like a relatively impressive alternative to Flash. I suspect much like we see WMV on some sites, we may start seeing Silverlight crop up. Since MS designed it right off the bat with support for Firefox and Macs (and maybe Linux? I don't remember), they're already countering most of the reasons NOT to use it. We shall see.

I didn't see support for firefox or linux...Not that it matters. I wouldnt use any MS products anyway, after the way they treated me.

the way they treated you? im sure you got completely screwed by microsoft because they are a horrible company that wants nothing but your money and your misery. Or maybe you didnt read the minimum requirements

Re: Microsft Silverlight!

No, the silverlight thing is an unrelated issue. I know how to read requirements. I just quickly browsed to see what silverlight was, didnt really 'look' for firefox/linux support. (as i said, i wouldnt use it anyway, unless i absolutely HAD to)

Show us on the doll where Microsoft touched you.

As others have said, Silverlight is MS's newish alternative to Flash. It hasn't caught on yet and there's no guarantee that it ever will, but they are going to keep pushing it. Even MS isn't sold on it for Windows Mobile yet though judging by the fact that they just licensed the Adobe Flash Lite 3.x engines for WM.
