Who is your favorite chef?
I wanted to know which Rom chef everyone prefers and Why?
So far i have had the pleaseure of using the following roms and have stuck with No2Chem because of nueupdate. It is an online Update tool that allows Flashing your phone an update Rom without a pc, using your carrier data service..... Very nice. :evil4: DCD HTC/Sprint Colonel NexVision No2Chem I also wanted to thank everyone that Develops these Roms and participates on this board. I never though i could spend this much time jacking with a phone... you have saved me from the impending monotony of my lousy job once again. You guys are the the best! |

No Giada De Laurentiis option?
Oh, you mean ROM chef?! :D |
Re: Who is your favorite chef?
I voted no2chem... he's constantly improving on his builds and throwing in his own improved versions of sub par apps: Nuerom, Nueupdate, Nueminutes, Nuefont, NueAGC...
plus he's the man that gave us all fixes for the bothersome LED's and the 1% incremental battery meter settings... what he's doing is just groundbraking stuff in the ppc world. |
Re: Who is your favorite chef?
no2chem may be the man, but look who made a cab version out of his 1% battery fix (which is originally a.dll file). lol

Re: Who is your favorite chef?
They're all good, except for Sprint. :) It's kinda unfair to ask the question in this forum, where dcd doesn't have a presence anymore. I bet the results would be different if you asked at xda.
Please keep up the good work, men! |
Re: Who is your favorite chef?
i havent upgraded it yet to scared i do have the latest defualt rom and having some issues but i would say i will do like i did with my 6700 first to cols if i can find the rom and teh stuff lol

Re: Who is your favorite chef?
I have been running the latest official ROM since it came out last week and it's starting to get wonky. I will probably fire up a custom ROM when I get home so this is a good thread for me.

Re: Who is your favorite chef?
Can someone outline a brief description or like a pro/con list or major features of each? I'm only familiar with DCD and nueRom. Has colonol released a kitchen? Looks like one at his site. It's new, perhaps it isnt for the mogul. A lot of these guys may have a change log but no real feature lists. DCD's thread about his rom at XDA-Dev is one of the easiest to understand. From what I gather, nueROM is about the same but with some of his nueTools added.

Re: Who is your favorite chef?
There are too many chefs for me to say who is the best... so here are the ones I've used.
I started with DCD because I liked the kitchens and he also had great plug and play verizon ROMs. The skins and dialers look great out of the box and his ROMs are noob friendly. Two things moved me away from DCD - I no longer need a kitchen or OEMs since UC works so well, and no2chem's ROMs have some extras and performance advantages. No2chem also worked out some issues that DCD was struggling with. I think no2chem is really an HTC engineer :) |
Re: Who is your favorite chef?
DCD & no2chem are 1 & 1a, both make great ROMS. Too close to call actually, I can't see anyone being disappointed with either.
|
Re: Who is your favorite chef?
Until 3.35 came out DCD and no2Chem were almost the same. I have not loaded any newer no2Chem roms but DCD's 3.0.1 kitchen is almost perfect. I see no reason to switch to anything else. My phone performs better right now than it ever has.
I know props go to no2Chem though as well cause he helped with alot with DCDs work. |
Re: Who is your favorite chef?
I'm the kind of person that enjoys a loaded Rom. I've enjoyed using Nex's No2 based roms since I bought my 6800. He's good at listening if there's an issue. I haven't had any big issues with his roms and they all work great. They're all great chefs to me.

Re: Who is your favorite chef?
I enjoy No2Chem and DCD. Colonel will always hold a special place in my heart, but his stuff is almost too intense with the amount of software he includes. But, he does a pretty decent job of making it all work together. I find No2Chem to be a slight bit ahead of DCD, strictly because of his software contributions of NueRom, NueUpdate, blah blah blah. It's all gravy though.

Re: Who is your favorite chef?
I've been using No2Chem as of late. I think his ROM's rock. Each chef has his strengths. Also, they've created thier own signatures by the way they build their ROMs. I've used DCD's and NexVisions but keep coming back to No2Chem's. Usually, I can find most of the tools that they use in a .cab format and add them to No2Chems.
At this time if I had to rank them, I would do so as follows: 1.) No2Chem 2.) DCD 3.) NexVision I would love to be able to take No2Chem's ROM and put in all of the extra stuff I have to add after flashing but I read in a previous thread that there will be no PPCKitchen Mogul kitchen. I hope that there'll be one but in the meantime, I guess I'll just keep adding to it. I love the fact that both chefs don't put so much stuff into that the ROMs are bloated. As Cody mentioned earlier that he is his favorite chef. I would consider myself a sous chef on my Mogul while No2Chem and DCD are the ultimate chefs. |
Re: Who is your favorite chef?
rgv - Have you tried using UC yet? It will automatically install all of your CABs whenever you hard reset. It can also copy files and make registry changes. So you still end up with everything being installed. And unlike kitchens, you can uninstall or upgrade the programs too.

Re: Who is your favorite chef?
I haven't tried it mainly because I didn't want to figure out the text file. PlenTpak has a utility called Autoinstall3. It works well. You just place the files you want to install into a directory and run the exe and boom it begins to install. He's done a lot of work with it. I like this because I don't have to mess with the text file.
thanks for looking out and offering the suggestion. |
Re: Who is your favorite chef?
I seem to like Nex's best. I like all the extra's. I dont know as much about adding all the goodies after the flash, so I like who they are all included. If I knew where to get the certain things I seem to like and how to build them into my own ROM I would try that.
I like the idea of the autoupdating program, but if someone else here thinks its a little complex that rules me way out. |
