Baffles, you can use the RequestPowerNotifications API function to register to be notified of power state changes.

Update. Works great with Nav4all. Now I can dump Holux GPS viewer. Thanks!

I know, but that requires a separate message queue. No big deal, but I was looking at other solutions, but I'll probably just get power notifications and handle GPS at power time.

Any ETA for this fix?

so... feedback point - still running with the gps service off, gps in standalone mode via the registry setting... result:

Battery life - still @ 75% after 13 hours with 3-4 gps sessions during the day (no issues with gps refusing to get a lock so far - worst case is about 1 minute to get a lock if I drive 15 miles with it off) and several short phone calls, and the usual imap 2x/1hour checks & normal usage. That's maybe 5% lower then the old "no gps at all" battery life with similar usage.

I'm thinking I've found my combo of magic settings that work. Still would very much love to have a small app that, when run, just waited for a lock or max 2 minutes, and if it got a lock dumped the current lat/long/alt/heading/speed into registry keys somewhere. That would be uberspiffy.

Baffles,

Where can I get a copy of the first today screen shown on these phone shots?
" My Phone (screenshots) "
I searched, but couldnt find anything. It's really nice. I like it a lot more than what I have. :)
Thanks,
Brandon

Says right there... "SPB Mobile Shell" - that's commercial software, just go buy it.
