HTC Sprint Mogul 3.35.651.2 ROM upgrade - Lost EVDO
Hello,
Since new HTC Sprint 3.35.651.2 ROM upgrade for the Sprint Mogul (aka Tytan), I can no longer Internet Share phone as a modem. Before upgrade, I had no problem connecting to the Sprint data network with either USB or Bluetooth PAN connection. Both use to work just fine. Even if you 1st establish an internet connection to a web page and then try to connect Internet Sharing, it still fails to connect, resulting with the following error message: Error Code : 67 Error Code 67 Registration failure. Your PCS Vision username and/or password may be incorrect. Please try again. However, on the plus side I can now connect ActiveSync with Bluetooth. Hip, Hip, Hoo-Ra. The Bluetooth ActiveSync connection worked the 1st time I tried to setup the partnership and is working reliable. GPS is working with Google maps and will now show your current location. Has anyone else confirmed the EVDO problem since the ROM upgrade?? Please keep this post updated, if anyone has a work around for reatoration of EVDO. Thanks, Tony |

To get out of error code 67, open Internet Sharing, hit Connect. After you get the error again, stay in Internet Sharing. The Bottom left softkey should say Disconnect. Make sure you click it and it goes back to saying Connect. Try soft resetting and see if that fixes the error code on using Internet Explorer.

I found another thread that restores Internet Sharing
Edit the registry as follows: Open "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing" Delete string named "Extension" (value = rilphone2.dll) Check string under Settings "MaxCMConnectRetries" If value = 1, then change it to 0, If value = 0, leave as is Close registry Soft reset and Internet Sharing will now connect without Error Code 67 |

Re: HTC Sprint Mogul 3.35.651.2 ROM upgrade - Lost EVDO
You need to install a "registry editor" on your mobile device, similar to that found in Windows XP. If you are not familiar or have little experience with editing the Windows Registry, I suggest you have someone who is experienced do the mod for you. The process is rather simple, but if you change or delete the wrong thing, you can mess up the registry rendering your phone inoperable.
However, if you wish to try it, the one I use is a licensed copy called "Simple RegEdit". It cost $7.95 at the Handango web site. http://handango.com Type simple regedit in the search box and following the instructions for purchase. You can probably find a shareware freebie out here, but I just purchased mine. |

Re: HTC Sprint Mogul 3.35.651.2 ROM upgrade - Lost EVDO
I just tried to run the upgrade something totally insane happens, I keep getting ERROR CODE [328] INVALID COMMAND. The tag line is "This utility can not be used for your PDA phone, please check your update utility." and then it only gives you an option to exit the update, no recovery option.
I called HTC support on from their website for the US and they walked through everything and are dumbfounded. The best part is that they said their is not even an error code 328 only 300 and 330. So they have no idea what to tell me. It appears as though that on the website the Mogul by Sprint ROM to version 3.35.651.2 (EV-DO Rev.A) link does not download the correct rom, but some rom that they have never heard of or should not even exsist. They verifyed that I was downloading the correct rom like five times, but was not getting the correct rom even though it was labeled correctly. They basically just kept appoligizing and said they did not know how to help me or fix the problem or get the correct rom for me. They gave me some phone number to call mon-fri. because they are not there on the weekends to see if they can help. The number they gave me is 1-800-229-1235, and said that these people work on the cdma phones because sprint does not use sim cards. In the end they said sorry again and again but we do not know what to do. I have no phone currently because it is now stuck in rom boot mode with the 4 color bands. If anyone has had any experience with and knows how to help, please email me or respond to this one here, because guess what the people who made the phone HTC have no idea how to fix their own problems. |
