Conspiracy Theory??
So, after updating my Mogul with the new official ROM goodness, and thinking 'it's about time!', something hit me....what if the reason it took so long to become public was that Sprint (or HTC) 'leaked' the version everyone has been using to customize, and Sprint (or HTC) has been reading all of the posts about what works/what doesn't?
Think about it - the No2Chem nueROM 2.0 (WM6.1) thread alone has over 2400+ responses, with over 200,000+ views!! That's alot of unpaid volunteer Beta testers!! The official ROM thread has over 1000+ responses and 130,000+ views. If you were a software company, wouldn't you try to take advantage of that??? I am sure neither company would ever admit it, but after getting blasted for the last 'official' ROM, I am sure they did their best to make this one as good as it could be.... Am I crazy? (ok, don't answer that)....but, the truth is out there somewhere! BTW - not sure if it's been said lately, but thanks to PPCGEEKS, DCD, No2Chem and all of the other brave pioneers for at least helping this phone geek keep his 'phone of the moment' fresh! |
Re: Conspiracy Theory??
naw... it's just normal corporate release cycles... it takes a while when every other owner wants to dial up their lawyer if they find a misspelled error dialog message. I kid you not.

Re: Conspiracy Theory??
Ahh - good point!! It is hysterical the number of 'Class Action Suit' threads you see on message boards these days....I keep waiting for the one about the 'Enable/Disable' -vs- 'Enabled/Disabled' EPST dialog setting!

Re: Conspiracy Theory??
If I was HTC and was actually reading this board, after seeing all of those morons with the calls to form a class action over every other stupid thing, I would completely cut off support for the device. I have never seen a phone get as many updates as the Titan has, yet there are some who still think they are entitled to more and more. And GODFORBID everything doesnt work perfectly.

Re: Conspiracy Theory??
Amen!! I do understand the concerns where people say 'we paid $$$$ for a phone that doesn't work'....but some of the things people are freaking over are pretty funny.
It was kinda like when the iPhone came out...people read for months about what it had/didn't have, waited in line for hours, bought it....then complained about what it had/didn't have.... I run through phones like some people go through, um, things that people go through quickly, and as long as it does what it says, I am perfectly happy hacking/tweaking to make it do above/beyond!! Thank God/Buddha/Allah/Bono for PPCGEEKS and XDA!! |

Re: Conspiracy Theory??
If HTC/Sprint Were smart they would have a beta test program for their users. It wouldn't cost them anything.. and there would be plenty of guinea pigs.

Thats BS first of all. No phone I know of has video drivers. Its just our certain processor which has trouble playing videos correctly. And what does HTC have to do with the software? They provide the hardware and the firmware. The software, and all of your problems with the phone, come from Microsoft. The "memory leak", Microsofts problem. And lack of support? Are you kidding me? They have given 3 Rom updates since I bought the phone, I think that is pretty good support for a phone. And what manufacturer of a phone provides support directly to consumers in any other fashion than releasing firmware updates? Does a person with a RAZR on Verizon contact Motorola for support? Of course not, they contact Verizon. So since all of your claims against HTC are BS, I will rest my case. You knew what you were getting when you bought the phone. It is Sprint that promised more than the phone could offer at the point you bought it, and eventually they made it right. Sprint is who you have ANY validity at being pissed at. |

I do have to say this.....remember when you would buy something and it just worked? Out of the box? No tweaking? You'd probably have to be at least 25-30. LOL |

Re: Conspiracy Theory??
It'll be nice the day the carriers get the HE## out of phone design. They never had any business sticking their noses in it. Back in the good ol' days it was much simpler and you could move a phone back and forth between carriers freely.

Re: Conspiracy Theory??
Lets be honest Windows Mobile on a whole is still in its intfancy, I hope some of you agree on that point....that being said, there has never been a "perfect" phone...just like any product you buy...there will always be a newer and better model, that will hopefully bring us closer to "perfection" okay so sprint released the mogul and it had it's share of glitches...Verizon waits a whole year to release theirs, tellin me crap like "We beta test our phones longer then sprint to avoid problems that the sprint users are having" BULLSH*T!!!!
I have the same problems, but I have learn to live with those issues hoping in a year or 2 my XV6800's next of kin will have those problems corrected with an improved model...as far as support for the phone? c'mon the REAL experts are right here at PPC geeks...those idiots that call themselves technicians don't know sh*t about this phone...and how can they??? when they all have the Voyager or the Venus as their personal phones...If the phone company didn't exaggerate(sp) the features of this phone then I would have never found PPCGeeks...but I'm glad cuz although the roms make the phone a little buggy, its so much fun making it do stuff it couldn't do when you bought it...just like puttin intake and exhaust on ur car and installin a killer system... Don't get mad...get the Lastest ROM update from PPCgeeks or XDA... There is no money in making a perfect phone my friends, there is money however in making the next model just a little bit better, enough to make us go and buy it...let us complain, and make the next one just a wee bit better...its a never ending cycle... there is the real conspiracy... |
