For those having issues with ActiveSync connectivity

***This is for a phone fully booted up, not a phone booted to the bootloader***

If you connect your phone and hear the usual USB connection sound, but ActiveSync never connects, try this:

1) Right click on My Computer and choose Manage
2) Click on Device Manager
3) Open Network adapters
4) Connect the phone via USB
**at this point Device Manager should refresh a couple of times and you should now have a new entry under Network adapters called Windows Mobile-based Device (perhaps with a # after it)
5) Right click on this device and delete it
6) Disconnect the phone from the USB cable then reconnect it

You should now see ActiveSync communication once again.

Please let me know if this works for you.

Edit: I also noticed I had issues when connecting through my docking station. Be sure to use a port directly on your PC/laptop

Thanks frazmanw:
on win mobile 6.1

Settings - System - USB to PC uncheck box....

on Win Mobile 6

Settings - connections - USB to PC uncheck box....

Update:
I was just now having issues and ActiveSync was erroring out. I deleted the device and reconnected. All is well now.

Delete the device in AS by choosing File -> Delete Mobile Device (phone must be disconnected.)

Re: For those having issues with ActiveSync connectivity

Mine still does not connect. I had the connection working fine till I refreashed the ROM then it got silly. If I set up the connection wizard in 20s then I can get it to work for the next 5 seconds, but never again. It seems to only have 20-30s of communication avaiable.

Re: For those having issues with ActiveSync connectivity

That sounds like an issue on the phone side. My phone seems to disconnect every time it goes into sleep mode. Do you have yours set to sleep after 20 secs? Perhaps the ROM you loaded has it set that way?

Re: For those having issues with ActiveSync connectivity

After restarting the device, it lost it's connection again with Activesync and I couldn't get it to reconnect, even after re-deleting the network adapter in the Device Manager. So I stopped back here to let you know. Then I read the post about disabling advanced network functionality in the USB to PC setting on the device. Now this seems to have worked! Permanently!

Thank you!
