Downgraded to 2.17...now phone soft-resets frequently
 

So I tried out 3.16, and DCD's and No2Chems roms and enjoyed them all but they were too buggy for my likes.

I used the titan relocker and then flashed back to 2.17, and now the phone soft-reboots like mad.

Sometimes it will be fine for an hour, then the screen goes black and it soft-resets. Sometimes it will soft-reset 3-5 times before the phone boots up. I have hard-reset 3 times now, and with absolutely no programs installed i get the soft-reset at random times, the phone will be in my pocket and i feel it vibrate, then hear the boot music

I flashed the 2.17 rom from the sprint page, am using prl 60611, it says radio is 1.47.01.

From my reading this sounds like a radio problem (?) Any suggestions on how i should troubleshoot this? Downgrade radio to 1.40?

EDIT: I should add I have SPL 1.07

Before I flashed the 3.16 and derivatives, I never saw this problem. Thanks in advance for the assistance

alright, I flashed OliPro 1.2 and put on the 1.40.00 radio (Which I have read is the most stable)

and the sucker still soft-reboots like it is going out of style

any other suggestions?

You might want to try and go to 3.16 first before going to 2.17. I might be wrong, but going backwards exactly the same way seems logical?

I downgraded to 2.17 today as well but I don't see any problem with soft reset. I also used titan relocker to install rom 2.17. Actually, before I downgrade to 2.17, I've tried 3.16 rom of No2chem, dcd,aeromobile, and other rom made by diff people on here. There are still a lot of bugs in 3.16 rom, sometimes I don't receive call and sometimes the phone locked up so I am tired of soft reset, then I decided to downgrade to rom 2.17. it works normal, no soft reset like yours.

Hmmm....That does seem logical.

Has anybody else had troubles going from DCD's back to 2.17? THat is an interesting idea

The first time i went from No2Chem's back to 2.17 i didnt have any problems...

Is it possible that I have a corrupt contact or something?

I have gone to mulitple ROMs back and forth (including 1.40) and the only time I have had issues is when the SPL was the worng one for the ROM. If it is the unificial 1.4 radio, then use an unificial ROM then use SPL 1.20

This is how I would get back to this rom and radio from you current version
Run titanLocker
Hard reset phone and let it boot, as most likely the phone will start to reset once it loads and run programs J . By doing this the phone stops on the Welcome screen which seems to stay stable enough for a flash and where ActiveSync first becomes
available.
Run the Unlocker 1.2
Boot to SBL boot screen (camera + Power)
Flash ROM
Boot to SBL boot screen (camera + Power)
Flash Radio
Start Phone up normally

A lot of times I find that after a flash the phones doesn’t always boot past the SPL, to get around this
In ActiveSync go to connections and un-tick Allow USB Connections
Run Mtty choosing connection type USB
Type command Set 16 0 and Enter
reboot

it reset twice last night, and i pulled the battery.

booted it up this morning and it hasnt soft-reset itself yet today....I am on on the 1.40 radio now....so far it is stable enough (I guess)

I cooked up a ROM this morning using DCD's 1.70 kitchen (wm 6.1 on the 2.17 build) and might flash that this afternoon....but i do like a stable phone, so i might pass on that
