DCD 2.3.1 Review (by me)

I finally bit the bullet, read up on it, and upgraded my stock 2.17 two days ago, and IM LOVING IT!

The greatest thing is that i have virtually no memory management issues (uh, leaks for the normys). Ive been sitting at ~19 for the last two days, no restart, just a few hibernations. I have Qmenu and Wtask installed. It starts out at a higher mb, but it settles around there.

Ive also installed nexvisions rom, but i didnt like all the extras, so i went back to dvds as its a great rom for the essentials.

So far, gps seems to be ultimately slow when looking for a satellite, and this annoys me as i only use it in the car, and by the time the gps is active, im at my destination by one means or another. As far as RevA, ive gotten as high as 1200kb download speed in my area and 400 upload. This is mre than enough for me and im makin g lots of use. I only worry about sprint being a bit more suspect now that i can get so much data so fast when tethering over IS.

The threaded sms is a great add on for Winmo6.1. After loading up my old PIM, it took around 5 minutes to organize all the old messages (about 400+), but after that, its very useful.

Im not sure if the battery management is more or less, but its definetley pretty good

isnt the official rom being released in like....days(apparently)?

Question to those who have custom ROMS....
Will you upgrade to the official ROM? Or stay with whatever one you have...

I am just curious. Rather ask it in this thread than create another 'official ROM' thread =D> lol. Ive just read a couple peoples posts about how when the 'official' comes out, they have no intention of switching to it. Just curious as to the "why" part of that.

I have DCD 2.2.6 installed. I am planning on installing 2.3.1 tonight. When the Sprint official ROM is released, and incorporated into a DCD install, I will install that.

i have the 2.3.1 ROM and it's the best that I have used. It's solid. I might switch to the sprint ROM. Just have to see what comes with it.

I think many people will upgrade for the (hopefully) updated radio, but then flash a customized version of that rom (a la dcd/no2chem).

dcd's rom's are kickass I agree... it's the 3.27 radio that is killing 'em though I hope this can be fixed and ripped from an "official carrier release"
