In over my head???

Hi there all. I am new and having a problem. I liketo think that I am fairly technology savvy but I think I may be in deep this time.

I have been playing around with several of the Sprint-based custom ROMs (I'm on Verizon with a XV6800) and am really enjoying them all. However, none of them will let me connect to the internet with PIE. They all give me an error of "Could not connect.....Check your Vision Username and Pass....etc. So I flashed back to the OEM Verizon ROM (VZW_2.09_RUU_signed) and thought I would start over. Problems are:

1. Upon startup, still shows the Yellow Sprint splash screen and then the animated Verizon screen then the green Windows Mobile screen during bootup.

2. On the default today screen, still shows Sprint PCS as carrier.

3. When it starts its customization on first boot after flash, the first file it tries to load is a Sprint .cab of some kind and then I get an error that that file can't be found and I have to soft reset to get out of the error.

4. Finally, I still cant connect to the internet. When trying to do so I get the popup that says:

Connecting to: Data Network Connect
Using: Cellular Line
Dialing #777.....

Then the Cannot Connect Error...Cannot connect for unknown reason...blah, blah.

Can Anyone help me please? I searched high and low for answers to the net problem and found a post titled "Verizon Internet Settings" but it only contained a dead link.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Todd

P.S. - Device info is:

ROM Version: 2.09.605.8
ROM Date: 08/03/07
Radio Version: 1.32.00

UPDATE:

I have now found that I cannot dial anything that begins with a * or a #. I can't dial *288, *28899 or #786##. This may be the problem with the internet as it has to dial #777 for the data. I tried manually installing the original Verizon ExtROM cabs since I saw a post somewhere that without them it could cause problems with dialing the * and #. But no go.

At this point, if someone could help me get rid of the yellow Sprint splash screen and the Sprint PCS on my carrier image I would be grateful as I guess I have to return the phone.

I have tried original Verizon ROM, Verizon Radio ROM and Verizon Ext_ROM and nothing seems to work. The phone still thinks it's Sprint. :(:(

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Todd

II dont really know if this will help but you can give it a try. First I dont know where you can get a copy of the verizon splash screen then you can do this:

This is 2nd screen that moves:
Gota edit registry
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\StartupAnimation]
edit GIFFile value string to what ever you named the
startup animation file above.. save and reboot
Thanks to col for your help on registry setting.

WaS
windows\spcs_startup.gif

now \spcs_startup2.gif

This is 3rd screen was microsoft mobile green screen
picture must be a .png picture and save it as
welcomehead.96.png uunder my docu's then move it from there to windows
dir

I am not to sure what you mean by Sprint PCS carrier image? But here is something that may help?:

4-Change Operator name
HKLM\System\State\Phone\Current Operator Name

Hope this helps.

How about trying to cook your own rom with all the verizon setting installed automatically. Plus you can install what you want/need.

dcd's titan kitchen v1.6.10 is a very mature rom because he has worked hard and steady to squash the bugs. Its very easy to do. In fact, you obviously unlocked the titan so you know how to handle the whole flashing thing.

head over to xda-developers and check out his kitchen
