Any word on a customizable Kitchen GUI?

Just wondering if there's any progress on a GUI based custom kitchen app for the Titan like the one for the Apache. I've used the Apache one and loved how easy it was to throw a ROM together. Thanks.

DCD has one. Based off of the older build OS but it works well. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=353280

go into the ftp and goto his directory...download the kitchen and the addon package...the rest are directions i followed to a t from him....

Pretty easy. Basically these are your steps:

1) Download both the kitchen and the addon pack. Extract the kitchen to your kitchen directory of choice. Extract the addon pack directly into the \OEM\ directory that the kitchen creates.

2) Go into your kitchen directory and run "BuildOS.exe". Hit the check mark next to anything you want, and make sure there are no checks next to things you don't want. If you don't know what it is, hover your mouse over the name for a minute and it should give a tool-tip. Leave off lots of stuff that you don't need / use. Anywhere that says (Pick One) make sure there is only *one* box checked off in that group.

3) Push the little play button in BuildOS. If there aren't any errors (and there shouldn't be), you ...

4) Go back to your kitchen directory and run BuildIt.exe. Your RUU_signed.nbh will be made, and placed in the RUU directory...

5) Go into the RUU directory and run romupdateutility.exe.

6) Remember to hard reset your phone after flashing, and enjoy.

im running it now and its great so far!
if you need help pm me i dont wanna clog the thread with instructions as there all there!

thanks! props to dogguy!

Jay, could you give us more details about DogGuy's kitchen? Version, BT stack, other goodies? I am using DCD's now with 2.17 and I am pretty happy with it but I am always looking for something new for my toy.

The new BuildOS is being updated for the Titan. I don't know what DogGuy is using, but if it's the new BuildOS (the one from the Apache kitchen), it's not quite ready for Titan - it'll work, but requires some hand holding. When I release the next version, it won't be a drop in replacement for the current version.

Its just bepe's buildos GGuru. I'm leaving your version to you guys to release when its been modified and ready for the titan. ;)

As for info... its a 2.17 + Vogue mixture, with the Vogue core (SYS and XIP ported). The OEM Pack has about 41 apps in it at the moment. Only core registry tweaks are automatic, everything is optional in the buildOS for the user to decide. Give it a glance if you want. I'm not posting a new thread about this version of the kitchen until I've added a few more registry tweaks and a bundle of OEMs.

if you could make the sprint branding optional in your kitchen, that would be perfect! :D

Had an issue when trying to add "Adobe" using DogGuy's kitchen -- I got an error that "textsearch.bmp" already exists and BuildOS stops running. If I remove (uncheck) Adobe, everything works/finishes as expected -- no errors... Not a huge deal, but just thought that I'd mention it to see if others were seeing that problem...

Edit: Found that there are 2 identical textsearch.bmp files under the OEM folder -- looks like one is under Adobe and the other is under HTC_Task_Manager_1.51 -- my guess was that each one was being copied to the temp/dump folder causing the issue that I noticed... (I was trying to add both of these app's...) Turned out that was right. I renamed the .bmp file in the Adobe folder (under OEM) and re-did the BuildOS process and let it finish - no error this time. After it was done both .bmp files were in the temp/dump folder -- I just removed the one I had renamed and finished the Buildit process -- seems to have worked correctly...

It's useful if you guys say what kitchen you are referring to when posting in this thread. I assume you both are referring to DogGuy's.

When you say "remove Sprint branding", I assume you want more than just the branding removed...you actually want to switch carrier configs? Removing the branding (the pictures) is easy enough there are tools to provide your own bitmaps. Switching carriers is a little more invoved.

As to file conflicts, yes, they always mean that the file in quesiton is referencd by two or more OEMs. Sometimes this is not a problem, but most of the time you'll have to either modify the OEM or include only one of them.

DogGuy,
I have tried them all and I have to say that yours is the best. I have better performance, no bluetooth issues, no missed calls, no memory leaks, and I can pick out what I want to install. Did you recently update you kitchen? Thanks for your hard work!!

rawr 01-04-2008 01:03 PM

oops, yeah, i meant DogGuy's kitchen... all the Sprint features work fine on Telus other than MMS... I just would rather have the thing be unbranded than have the Sprint stuff all over the place...

Hah!

And what is the comparison between the amount of RAM available after a clean install of
-stock Verizon ROM
-DogGuy's ROM
-DCD's ROM

I am really running short on RAM with the 2.17 Sprint ROM...

nuguy 01-04-2008 10:40 PM

C'mon DogGuy, throw us verizon dogs a bone. I know you are busy barkin' at the perfect sprint 'Big Dog' kitchen, but my titan is really pulling hard on the leash to get it's chefs hat on, so much so that I have to keep a muzzle on her and her little stock vz rom self....

and you know that aint right!

p.s. thanks for your tireless work on our toys - helmi, ggurusa, bepe, colonel, dogguy, dcd, verizonguy, and a very long list of others, you guys Rock!

DogGuy's and DCD's ROM both use Tadzio's Tools to convert unused ROM space into storage memory. So, the amount of free space really depends on how much crap you load into the ROM. Depending on the amount of crap, that can be more or less than stock - but unlike stock, you won't have wasted any space with crap or reserved bytes.

[sammich] 01-04-2008 11:22 PM

Thanks for that info. I didn't realize you could convert that space to memory!

And congrats - at the time I'm posting this, you have 700 posts on the dot!
