Heavy contains lots of additional software. Heavy software can not be uninstalled. You just have to pick a new rom to get rid of the software. Where light is very basic and you just install what software you want.

I switch from heavy to light and back to heavy all the time. It really does not matter flashing wipes the current rom and flashes the new rom. The mms thing is diffrent. What rom did you flash? Im using Ryan Moguls Cricket Heavy 2.0 rom and can send and recieve sms, mms. Web and GPS also work. It took me awhile to get all the settings to jive but now my phone seems to be very stable and useable.
