Help! Soft key disappeared?
 

Hope someone can point me to the place in the settings where I set this back? I'm not sure how it happened, all the icons on the bottom curtain disappeared..all except the Application icon, that is. I've been through every setting that I have to try and get them back? I'm running stock Froyo EC05 I think it's called? Anyone ever had this happen, know how to fix?

Have you reset the phone...pulled the battery? What launcher are you running? Can you get into the Preferences of your launcher? A bit more info is needed please.

I had only tried turning the phone off then back on. After reading your suggestion I tried pulling the battery, STILL no icons except for the Application icon.. I'm able to get to all the settings through that icon. I'm using Samsung' Touchwiz I think is what it's called?

I haven't done a reset on the phone, I'm sure that would get the keys back but it would wipe a lot of data too, even with a backup...I'd like to leave that as a last resort, plus I'm going to root the phone soon (like I was thinking about doing it tomorrow) so if I absolutely can't get it back to normal it's not the end of the world! Hope that's enough info, this is just very frustrating, I can't for the life of me figure out how this could have happened?

Did you somehow change your launcher to the eclair/froyo launcher?

90% chance whatever I did happened because I didn't lock the display and stuck the phone in my pocket. It SHOULD be that easy to undo?

As for changing to the "eclair/froyo launcher" I don't think so because everything else looks exactly like touchwiz has always looked? I could check though if you tell me where in the menu there's a spot to set that?

The easiest thing to do is download "Home Switcher" from the market....this will enable you to switch between different Launchers. Download and then use it to confirm that you're running Touchwiz.

After that I would open up the Preferences for Touchwiz and check your dock settings.

Hmm..Did you maybe activate sprint ID? That sounds a lot like stock launcher..

I DID activate Sprint ID a while back and never did much with it. You know though I think you're right, it's acting like somehow one of the ID's was activated. Now I've opened it up and for the life of me I cant figure out how to get it back to normal? I wonder if there's a way to uninstall and if that will even return things to normal? ...I'll keep trying

Try choosing the "Samsung Pack" and that should get you back to TouchWiz.

I downloaded Homeswitcher for Froyo from the market and it identified two launchers on the phone "launcher" and "twlauncher" "twlauncher" was touchwiz the other was srintID. Now I'm back to thinking I just poluted my taskbar(tray/curtain)somehow? because the Sprint ID launcher is definately different.

He is on stock..aka hold back button on physical keyboard + home key = screenshot ;)

it just keeps bringing up the task manager? is that the right key sequence or am i hitting them in the wrong order? I assume the pics would appear in the DCIM folder with all other camera pictures?

You gotta use the hardware keyboard...hold the back key and then press home key(not hold home key)..it will give you a message that screenshot has been taken.

As for the folder..don't remember off the top of my head..

Have you gone to Settings/Applications/Manage Applications select the All tab and look for TWlauncher...and click clear data?

EDIT: I haven't used TW in a long time...but can't you just open your applications drawer and long-press on an app and have it appear on your home screen...and then slide it down to the dock?
