Ive been using Total Commander all the way back in the Dos days...how does its Android implementation compare to Astro and ES Filemanager?

from the author himself:

What functions are included?
- the basics: Copy/Move/Rename/Delete/New Folder
- select/unselect file via dialog or tap on its icon
- sort file lists as in TC for Windows
- ZIP+Unzip with AES encryption/decryption
- UnRAR, also multi-volume archives
- Plugin interface with plugins:
- list of installed Apps to backup or uninstall them
- FTP with FTPS (secure FTP over SSL)
- LAN (Windows servers via WiFi)
- bookmarks
- history
- search
- built-in text editor
- uses the typical Android user interface
- configrable colors and font sizes
- use third party Truetype fonts
- configurable button bar

The program will be freeware (without ads)

Thanks for your help!

Thanks Darren.
Nice find. I'll check it out right away.
TC and VC are the only two wm things I've been missing on my Epic.

Works and works real well. I actually might replace Estrongs with my new-old favorite! BTW,this should be in the Android apps general. Nice find Darren! Many thanks!

Re: total commander (beta)

I'm liking it a lot too. Easy to use and slick interface with system files. I can set up stuff to open with one click that used to take 3 or 4 clicks in MyFiles. Definitely going to be my main filing app. It looks like, to fully utilize all the stuff on it, I'm going to have to root though. So I guess I'll finally run my Bonzai MasterKey dl. I was waiting for a good reason (like this) to do it.

That key is so simple to use, much better than cwm imo.

Re: total commander (beta)

Yes the user interface is really simple. I like it. BUT...
I keep getting an error message that says:
"MasterKey cannot communicate with your device.
Please disconnect and reconnect your device and try again.
Make sure that USB debugging is enabled.
Tries remaining..."

I've got USB debugging enabled. I've disconnected and reconnected and tried again.
I've cold-booted (reset) my Epic and tried again. Again.
Can't get past that error message.

Any suggestion, Darren? Or should I just to to Bonzai forum and ask?

Sounds like a problem with the much maligned Sammy drivers. What OS on the PC?
