Phone died today at the worst time
 

I've been shooting a 4 day festival in baltimore. I get in my car to drive home after no sleep and a lot of shooting. my phone (which is stock, rooted ec05) freezes, reboots and never gets past the beginning samsung. I got in to the 3-fingered thing once and backed up... but that was all I could do and it never was able to go back in to CWM again.
I can also get it into download mode, but then no computer will recognize it.

When you get into download mode, and plug it in, what happens? do you see any drivers load up? or does it just connect and say "unrecognized usb device"?

I got recovery to boot once and CWM backuped. I can get into download mode but it doesn't communicate with the PC.

The sprint stores did me well though. They ordered me a new phone, but since I literally HAVE TO be on call for a radio station (otherwise FCC fines) and I now need android for security at work, I got a samsung moment as a loaner for 2 days.

BTW if you haven't already I recommend picking up a western digital micro usb hard drive cable for when you decide to hook up your phone to the computer. That is usually the majority of problems is the cable itself causing the issue of not being recognized when in download mode.

Sorry to hear about that... It's almost never a good time for your phone to take a dump.

so... I've been trying to unbrick it since this... but it wouldn't talk to ANY computer.
Sprint calls me to say the replacement is in... and I hook it up one last time.
Bang, it's re-flashing now with EC05 though odin.

how ever the phone still hangs on boot up and I can't get into recovery mode.
I'm hoping that this at least means all my data is completely gone from the device.

the funniest thing is that the loaner came with a card that had pics/videos of some dude who used it before.

There is the hard reset button on the back...it was in another post...

lol..I am suprised they even found a moment to loan you...probably the guy gave you his own old phone lol...

Realistically I think all they do is hard reset..they dont reflash the entire phone and delete everything...I got a refurb and I can still see data/phone call usage stats...I bet ya if I run my flash recovery on it I can restore the guy who owned the phones info easy...
