ROM of preference out there on the EPIC

OK, so I just moved over to the EPIC and rooted it last night. Now, I want to know is there a ROM out there that seems to be the rom of preference. I am looking for speed, eye candy, and lots of toys on it. Nothing gothic looking or streamlined down to just the basics. I figure I may as well task the EPIC with as much as I can with a new rom. Any insight?

Both ACS and midnight are good roms..if you want eye candy thats where themes come in...and add in the genocide kernel..

If you want to live on the edge, there is a EE03 Gignerbread rom leak just the other day..

Why Genocide over Twilight Zone? Just curious.

I am currently using the Bonsai Rom 4.1.138 and man the battery life on this bad boy is killer. It is their experimental development section which you have to make a donation of 5 dollars to use it. But this is best Rom out there by far.

It try out the gingerbread rom too but I did not like the lag and the camera sucked. The focus was horrible and it took dark pictures.

ACS rom is great and add the theme of your preference for eye candy also use SetCpu to over clock for more speed

Also a new gingerbread leak is out but its not 100%

Re: ROM of preference out there on the EPIC

Hi, I'm looking for a little advice in this category as well. I've done quite a bit of reading, but still could use a little direction from those more experienced than I.

I have a strong background on WM (and Palm before that), but I'm still a noob on Android. I'm currently running a rooted version (for tether and Titanium Backup) of stock DI18 as the OTA updates haven't worked and I haven't had time to troubleshoot till now. I am assuming that this is because I'm rooted, so I figure if Sprint wants to make it hard on a power business user like me, screw 'em, I'll just go with a fully custom ROM and get rid of all their BS.

So that's where I'm at. I was leaning toward Syndicate Fully loaded after doing some reading, but decided I really am not experienced enough, as I do not have enough time to trial/error a bunch of ROMs nor troubleshoot unstable ones.

In case you are interested, here are my priorities:

1. Battery Life
2. Stable
3. Functional as a Phone first, Email Second (I use Touchdown/Exchange currently)
4. Wireless Tether!
5. Google Voice
6. Camera quality (probably doesn't need to be mentioned, but I noticed some of the ROMs had issues here)
7. Spying, spammy, bloated, crapware gone but still able to install if needed in future
8. Full control (if I wanted to be told what media I can't play or programs I can't install, I'd have upgraded to WM7/iPhone...eek!)
9. Social media (upload photos/videos)
10. Eye candy or impressive high tech wizardry (lowest priority, but I do like to show off now & then ;-))

So, which ROM do you think I should use and why? Thanks so much, in advance for your help and advice - hope I can return the favor one day!

I am a biased Bonsai fan for probably obvious reasons, but would like to point you to a great starting point for getting rooted and installing a solid CWM/Recovery tool to help with installs of other custom ROMs.

Check out the Bonsai MasterKey for unlocking/rooting your device. Runs on Windows, Mac and Linux. And is free.

Ok, I'll start with Bonsai. I don't entirely understand why it's a good idea, but if it makes the process smoother, I'll go for it. Don't I need to decide a ROM first as well? I wish Cyanogen worked well on Epic, as that would may my decision easy...

Thanks again!

BTW, I am running a rooted version of DI18 now. Should I flash back to stock before starting this process?
