Largest MicroSD Card

I keep running out of space on the 16GB microsd card that came with the phone. I have about 8GB of music and the rest is filling up with photos and apps. I travel weekly ... my phone is my life ;^)

What is the largest microsd card being used on the Epic 4G?

The largest you can get your hands on due to sdhc limitation is 32gb...they go for around $60-$100 per card...options being class 2 and 4

Thanks for the info! My 32gb class 4 card is on order.

Is there anything I should know before swapping the cards? I figure I can copy all the data from my old card to the new ... but then I started thinking ... maybe there's a better way.

There is nothing faster then a direct copy.

Also I hope you didnt order from ebay...

Thanks for your help!

you sourced it directly from buy.com and not a 3rd party right?

I am asking because you gotta be careful with those cards as there are fakes all over..so first thing you do with it is make sure its not fake..

There are often2 types of after market cards:

1) They make lesser gb cards and rebrand them for more gb.so 32gb may be 2gb..when you plug it in the system tells you 32gb but if you start loading data on the card it will either limit it to 2gb..or it will load it up by automatically erasing previous data...

2) A real card that was made after factories were shut off/was discarded because it didnt pass QC

Just pay a little more at a reputable resaler... Just like with ANYTHING else in life... You pay more at the Toyota dealer but you aren't getting a cracked transmission that was repaired with JB Weld and you can count on that.

I ONLY buy electronics that are super cheap on ebay if I plan on being OK with the possible loss.

so then theres no way of knowing before buying it then ?

Re: Largest MicroSD Card

Not really bro... If it's fake you won't know till it starts failing or till you notice only 2gb and someone painted a 3 in front of the 2 to make it 32.

You can get some good deals at reputable stores.

I got my 16 GB at Fry's when the TP2 FIRST came out. I got it for 17 dollars and it's a Panasonic.
You just have to look.
I recently missed a sale where a 32gb was 40 bucks. I decided against it cuz I wanted higher than class 2. But I should have picked up a couple and sold them for 60 bucks made 20 each and bought the class 6 for 100 bucks.

Yeah.. You get lucky from time to time. I remember I bought my son a pair of Motorola SD9 headphones back in the day and they were ABSOLUTELY fake... I made the guy refund my mone and shipping (ebay). But he claimed they were real till the bitter end.

I am looking to get a better phone... Just not till next year (Sprint Gold member) ... By then the Galaxy will have some challengers. LOL. I like ALL phones and am not trolling. I just wanted to help out the OP.

before you buy is hard..usual culprit is if the price is too good to be true.also buying from a trusted channel is usually safer..not saying that its ever safe as there has been an incident for example where newegg sent out 1000 fakee cpus intel cpus lol...but a trusted retail channel is most likely to handle the issue better in case of a problem

There are visual hints but its not something easy to explain...:/

Once you get it though its easy to tell..

Re: Largest MicroSD Card

My battery is good since I deactivated some programs and installed juice defender.
Besides... My phone uses the same battery my TP2 uses... So 2 batteries are better than one. But I DO wish it was better.

Re: Largest MicroSD Card

so his best thing to do without having to root is just install juice defender, how much more battery life were you able to gain

I got a bit more... I also stopped Google Talk from launching at start up... I deactivated quk and change my email settings to check every 6 hours. Only hotmail is on exchange (push). Also changed the brigtness level to auto.

Minor tweaks... but they work.

Have you undervolted your phone?

Personally I stopped charging my phone altogether..I meab batteries cost around $4 each on ebay and are just as good..I can reboot my phone in 15 seconds so I just leave batteries on external chargers and then swap them whenever I run low on juice...the batteries are also really small in the epic so they are convenient to carry..

Re: Largest MicroSD Card

No... I have my phone on the charger all day at work... Just USB to my PC. Then on the car charger all the way home... The service here at work BLOWS and searching for service kills my battery... But on the weekend when I'm not in the middle of a canyon... My battery is great... I carry the second one just in case but I usually go the whole day with mild to moderate use.

Wall charger at bedside.
