stock text notification
 

I use handcent for texting and since the 2.2 update I haven't been able to figure out how to turn off the notification on the stock app. I got it to not show in the status bar but it still pops up on the icon. Is there a way to stop this so I don't have to check handcent and the stock app everytime I get a text?

What do you mean on the icon? you mean when you hit the applications button and the icon over there?

or you mean the icon on your homescreen? next to the applications button?

Yeah I mean the icon on the home screen. The envelope icon. When I get a text theres a number on it. Before the update you could switch the notifications off in the stock app so I would only get a notification for handcent.

you can drag that icon off the homescreen and replace it with handcents by clicking applications, then hitting menu key then edit..while number will apear it wont be on your homescreen anymore..

Yeah I did that a few days ago. Just trying to figure out if there was a way to stop the number from showng up. Thanks anyway though.

I guess it might be possible with some modification..or just use stock launcher/launcher pro/adw launcher...

i use chompsms and i have the same problem. ive unchecked all notifications on the stock text rom and still the same problem but thanks for suggesting and answer G and thanks for bringing up the problem in the first place
