must have apps?

any one have a list of must have apps for their epic? i got your basic stuff installed like launcher pro but i do miss all the outlook integration my touch pro2 had. i miss talk, end button ALOT and also a dedicated VC button.

i do love how much more stable this phone is than all my HTC winmo stuff combined.

Thanks,
Sid

Re: must have apps?

For Outlook Sync:

Home | syncdroid.net - because Androids need a good Outlook sync

As for Talk and End button..you might be able to remap some buttons for that :/...

i don't mind the exchange integration... i was referring to not being able to see your calendar appts for the day or not being able to have tasks list present. the full outlook experience not the syncing....

i've searched for remap buttons like AE button but haven't found any :(

thanks,
sid

I was not talking about exchange integration..I was refering to actual outlook sync..a lot of times people confuse the 2....

Can you clarify on a few things:

You mean syncing of Calender and tasks from outlook? or viewing your calendar and tasks on your phone once they are already there?

What do you mean by AE button?

There are plenty of apps in the Market that do what you are looking for.

First, go here: Getting started with Google Calendar Sync - Google Calendar Help to install Google Calendar Sync. This will sync your Outlook with Google Calendar.

I use Android Agenda Widget to keep track of upcoming appointments. It instantly syncs your phone with Google Calendar and has an almost infinite number of ways to customize it to your liking.

And there are many "to-do" apps out there as well. I use ToDo Task Manager Lite.

As for the buttons you can purchase "button remapper" from the market for .99 cents

Yeah it was a learning curve coming from TP2, but I couldn't deal with the lag on the Tp2 anymore.

Must have app on the epic or any android that I use is Quick desk.

Angry birds is a good game. I bought it on the palm pre forb 5.99 and I downloaded it on the epic for free. Seems to me that there isn't an ad free version... which is f***ing gay!

Will You PM me? There's always a hush hush on how to get rid of such ads to make something completely free. Otherwise tell us already... But the way I see it. I already paid for this game on the palm pre. I played with it for a while. 3 months later I upgraded to the epic. I made it to the 3rd chapter level 7 I think...

Anyway another must have app is tapatalk..? LOL

Its not a hush..the app is in the Google Marketplae its called Ad Free...the reason people do not like to talk about it is because those ads are what makes developers money to make the app in the first place..so I'm not exactly going to advocate it either..but..I there are times when its frustrating that there are no paid version or developer puts ads in a really annoying spot..so it does come useful

I have that app already installed... I was about to uninstall it before I knew it. I havent played Angry Birds in a while... So I fired up angry birds and the ads were gone! But I don't think Ad-free had anything do with that.. I think it was Droid Wall because I filter all apps on the black/white list individually.. It really does help lessen the ads. But Ad-free, but does it really work? nah I think not. It's just another service that runs your background while eating your battery. I'm not trying to advocate ad-free non paying apps in order to not support the developer but damn... Somebody sent me a pirated apk called Widget Locker so I can check it out and when I installed it I thought cool I want to buy this app. The next day I get the ad that says "2 second delay for pirates" even while AdFree was installed. I even blacklisted widget locker from wifi and 3G... what did I miss?

I think your missing how ad free works..its really nothing special..all they do is keep a list of domains that are known to host advertisements...and modify the Hosts file to set those domains to resolve to 127.0.0.1...this works on your pc as well...so it has no need to run in the background as a service..its just using the oldest trick in the book...

I installed Angry Birds Seasons and I'm still seeing the annoying Ads. Of course Ad Free is still installed.. Am I missing something?

Did you run AD Free and hit that button? if that fails select the symlink option and try again...if it finished successful don't forget to soft reset your phone
