Downloading attachments in Gmail app
 

How do you download attachments on the Gmail app? There is no "download" button, only "Preview", and if its not a document that can be previewed all I get is an error message. For instance, if I download something to my PC, its easier to just email it to my Gmail account and then download it to my phone rather than dig out a USB cable or pull out the Sd card. But when I open the email in the Gmail app there is no way to save the attachment. I have to use the stock email app for that, and that means I get double notifications every time I get an email.

I have the same issue... I pull up lots of emails with photos in them, and some show up, and some just have an icon with a question mark in the middle, and no way to download the rest... would be curious if anyone knew how to either fix this in settings, or a way around the problem?

ok fellas ive been hard at work reading about this issue all over the web and few things ive noticed is that stock rom with i18 update seems to be major issue and lots of custom roms with custom kernels are also having issues. also read that part of these issues seem to be sprints fault again like the hero had when it first came out but i personally have no issues with rom/kernel combo im using but others in rom thread are having issues with there set up but there kernel is different than one im using. sorry for the book but its all info. ive been reading.

I noticed this issue tonight when I was trying to install some apk's on my wife's Epic. I had to use the stock mail app to get it to work. Cant you sent Gmail up to run through the stock mail app?

I gotta say I like the stock mail app on the Epic way more than the stock mail app on the Evo.

Yes, you can set up the stock email to download Gmail, but the Gmail app is faster and syncs more reliably. The problem is you can't save attachments. So now I have to use both, and I get every email twice. Its a PITA but its the best I can do for now. That's why I started this thread.

Can you long press on the preview? Does that pop up a menu of sorts?

no, preview will show (if it can) what other person sent then option is given to dl. my issues are gone now with rom/kernel im using.
