SMS Limit?
 

I have my SMS basically set to not delete anything. Today I went to check a text and my phone deleted every text. After restoring, I only lost 3 days worth, but I don't want it to happen again. I was probably around 5K stored at the time...so my question is, was this just a glitch or is there a limit?

in the sms settings, there is a setting when checked it will delete old messages depending on the limit set

No I know, I have it set to not delete any messages ever.

is there a reason you keep all of them, never understood why people save them? i save maybe 10 aweek that have a phone # but thats only if i foreget to copy/paste the #.

so there just gone on there own? no flashing/wiping date or nothing?

Stock, my bad. It's just a personal preference to keep them all. And no, no wipe or anything they just disappeared on their own.

wow that is odd now, maybe try a third part app like chomp(love it) hell now i wanna save mine and see plus im on a turd hunt now for ya to see what i can find, im going to sprints epic forums and copy/paste your question there if you dont mind? they got some cool sprint tech. guys there too.

I didnt get a chance to use sms as much yet since most ppl still have my TP2 number...but I'm wondering where it stores those SMS...it might be that the latest sms are stored in temp partition or ram while older ones put on your main storage...that would make it possible if something cleaned the ram/tempfs :/

There are a ton of apps in the market for backing up your sms just go in the market and search for sms backup.

I had 24K messages on my phone when I first got it (imported from my tp2) and was absolutely fine. Something on your flaked. I did have something similar to that happen to my phone, but it was with message-contact connecting.
Install SMS Backup & Restore and then set it to back up every few hours.

Yea, I think I'll just do that. If it's just a glitch it's a glitch, I just don't want to treat the symptoms if there's an underlying reason. Thanks guys.

which I used on my android tp2. I just need to reclaimed my backed up txts from 8/16-8/21 and then I'll have that on the epic too. I loved my txts being in my email too!

Oh. SMS Back and Restore, do I need to check add readable data and contact names to ensure a proper backup? I'm not sure how this works, but if I try to reload it I'll be pissed if they're all blank.
