need help with wifi tethering on rooted epic 4g
 

Ok guys, I need help!

Here's my problem....I recently rooted my epic using the one click method (I can show you how if you need help). I tested my root by running titanium backup, and it ran perfectly. My problem lies in the wireless tether apk itself. First one I tried said my kernal was not supported, so I found one that installed on my epic.

Here's the problem, I ran the apk file and everything was going smoothly, it asked for root permission which I granted thru the superuser permission app. to my dismay when I tried to enable the tethering it said "unable to tether, please try again" ugggghhhh!

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Is the specific apk file I am using? If so, can someone post one that works for the epic? Or am I going about this completely wrong?

have you tried wifi analyzer app? theres a ton of complaints about wifi on the epic and people seem to think its on samsungs end.

I get my epic tomorrow, so I can't say for sure whether this works, but I would try the tether referenced in this thread:

Thanks alex.....just tried it out, but to no avail. Downloaded the file from the link above but it won't let me install....always says install UnsuccessfulHope you can help me out when ya get your epic!

I just download wireless tether from market. After starting to tether I get "Tether started with errors. Please check "Show Logs"" Then in the log I get the following message. "Unknown device-type. Your device is not supported!...done"

Thanks alex....I tried the apk on the link you posted, but still doesn't seem to work, wonder what the issue is that prevents the epic from tethering wirelessly
