Re: NEW Epic 4G EG22 Gingerbread leak is live!! 7/23/11!
Hi,
I am pretty experieinced doing this and I think the file you uploaded to HOTFILES is corrupt. I downloaded it twice, followed the instructions to a T and when ODIN went to access the tar file it gives a funny character then "7z" then aborts (like "~7z"). Tried your DropBox but I guess that's not ready yet.. can you please help as I'm very excited to try this out. Thanks! Chris R. |
Re: NEW Epic 4G EG22 Gingerbread leak is live!! 7/23/11!
Did you right click the zip and extract it to a folder and enter the password??
I had no problems with it. I use WinRar for zip files. Dropbox link should be done shortly.... |
Re: NEW Epic 4G EG22 Gingerbread leak is live!! 7/23/11!
Yeah, like I said, I've been loading Android ROMs for some time now (back when the first T-Mobile G1 ROM was introduced). I'm downloading from your DropBox site now to see if that file passes through Odin properly. will report out shortly.
Thanks! Chris R. |
Re: NEW Epic 4G EG22 Gingerbread leak is live!! 7/23/11!
Just tried your DropBox file: here is exactly what Odin reports:

Re: NEW Epic 4G EG22 Gingerbread leak is live!! 7/23/11!
Hi!
I figured out the problem - you may wish to rewrite your directions: you need to extract twice. the firlst set of files includes the 7z file which must be extracted again to get the tar.md5 file. I figured that out but I'm assuming most folks wouldn't - just trying to help! Thanks! Chris R. |
Re: NEW Epic 4G EG22 Gingerbread leak is live!! 7/23/11!
Are you using the Odin included in the .zip?

This leak is crazy sexy smooth! I wouldn't be surprised if this is the official build, especially since i can see protected apps on the marketplace now.

Noob here .... Followed instructions, phone froze half way through download and screen went green, so I pulled the battery, went back into d/l mode and tried again ---- SUCCESS :) Now I have to figure out how to root it again.
thanks for the file and the directions! J |

Ooops, sorry if my old screen name (haven't updated it in a while) sounds like I'm in the wrong forum ... I traded in my TP2 a while back and have been happily using the Epic for some time. I'll have to update my profile.

Re: [ROM][Stock][Odin TAR] NEW Epic 4G EG22 Gingerbread leak (2.3.4) is live!! 7/23/1
alright, its been flashed and is being tested over the next few days. It is very stable and responsive. I have just updated the kernel with http://chris41g.devphone.org/EG22PlusKernel.zip ... Still runs well. Looking forward to new roms based on this build. Can anyone recommend a good or better modem to use with this rom?

Re: [ROM][Stock][Odin TAR] NEW Epic 4G EG22 Gingerbread leak (2.3.4) is live!! 7/23/1
for some reason i tryed flashing this ROM on 2 different epics and once i hitted start on ODIN it failed right away. i retryed doing the same on both phones and still failed once i hitted start. so i gave up and deleted the folder. i wouldnt mind downloding it again if nayone tells me why it failled on 2 different phones.. even my friend had the same exact issue.. so thats 3 phone s right there..

Re: [ROM][Stock][Odin TAR] NEW Epic 4G EG22 Gingerbread leak (2.3.4) is live!! 7/23/1
I had that issue with Odin the first time i tried to flash with it as well. Found out if i disabled my antivirus it could install.. So turned that off to use odin. Turned it back on when done.

Re: [ROM][Stock][Odin TAR] NEW Epic 4G EG22 Gingerbread leak (2.3.4) is live!! 7/23/1
well all of the above replys i had dodne all of them.. its not like its the first time that i had used odin. i have been using for over 6 months now. i do the normal rutine. on the pit slot put the pit file and go to the PDA and open the tar file and unckeck everything but only check the autoreboot.... those are the only to files used when doing these steps.. and yes odin detected my phone and it shows COM5 on yellow background. so thats why i wonder why it fails when i hit start if iiam doing it the same way as always.. now if i do the same steps but if I odin back to EC05 or EB13 its goes succesfully.. now i did deleted some file called odin.ini i think thats what that was.... the icon of it looked like a driver icon. i deleted that file since i dont know what that was for... so i opened the normal odin.exe

Re: [ROM][Stock][Odin TAR] NEW Epic 4G EG22 Gingerbread leak (2.3.4) is live!! 7/23/1
Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but I've read that EC05 modems drain batteries quickly on EG22 roms. For modems, check this:
[Modem] [Odin] [ACS] EG22!, EF10, EF02 , EE03, EC05, EB13, DK28 I just odined the EG22 modem and it's running great with SRF1.1. I'm about to flash the rom from Darren's post and see how it goes. The flashable EG22 is missing the modem and busybox. I think Titanium BU will install bb when I start to restore apps. If not, I'll get it from the market. I'm somemwhat new to all this but thanks to Darren, I've been learning. |
Re: [ROM][Stock][Odin TAR] NEW Epic 4G EG22 Gingerbread leak (2.3.4) is live!! 7/23/1
Later:
It was easy. It was fun. I flashed EG22 and then flashed Chris's kernel. Avoided Ext4 conversion, figured that if I don't know what it is, I don't need it. So far so good. Phone is lightning fast. GPS ditto. Installing apps back on now. |

You need to extract the SPH-D700-EG22-8Gb-REL.tar.md5.7z file, then right click and rename it to just SPH-D700-EG22-8Gb-REL.tar. Then 3. Put victory_8G_100528.pit in pit 5. Put the SPH-D700-EG22-8Gb-REL.tar in PDA 6. Uncheck repartition and f. reset time 7. start |
