My prayers are with the two of you. Is it ok to make a donation?

When One Door ...

...is closed another one opens.
I hope you all recover well because that has to have an effect, being held at gunpoint. Whatever you do, don't hold your feelings in. It's obvious you have hundreds of "therapists" if you need us and a whole lotta love. Stay strong.

yeah, we have great people on here, thanks to everyone! We aren't asking for donations at all!! Thanks for offering though. Everyone enjoy the site!

Just trying to figure out who the house owner and cell phne owners know that's calling there. I am not giving ujp, but yeah Im being really safe. Never home alone, even if it looks like I am. I found out today while were gone to work, people are or were hanging out on our front porch. Theres no telling what else they did while cars weren't passing. I gotta catch this bc it really pisses me off! Well thanks again everyone!

That is the absolute best thing you can do. And do it as fast as possible. Now i'm not sure on NC law, but you should be able to carry it in your own house all you want, with or without a license. I definitly recommend taking classes though. The thing is, keep it on you and very close by when in bed. It would do no good if you have to run thru 3 rooms to get to it.

Lot of good info on this site.

I have had my ccw for a while now, I live real close to a real bad city...Flint.... so I feel its neccessary to protect myself and my family. But its is something not to be taken lightly. I would have no problem shooting in self defense, some people could not shoot no matter what the circumstances. A gun is not to scare the attacker away, it is too eliminate the threat. Sorry to be so blunt but this is a topic i feel very strong on.

I am very sorry to here what happened to you all. Its unfair when good people get attacked.

So sorry that happened to you. My heart goes out to you both.

Look, I'm

... not a pacifist. Lord knows, the memory of Malcolm X, Medgar Evers, and Huey P. Newton won't let that happen. And I believe we have the right to bare arms but all this gun talk has me concerned.

It's easy to sit at a PC or click away on your pocket PC and talk about taking someone else's life without any thought behind it. But to actually kill, murder someone? Well that becomes a different story. And when you're being held at gunpoint, what good is your gun if it's in a different room? What good is it if the gun or guns become part of the items stolen?

I'm not saying not to do what you need to do to be safe but let's not think that a gun or an arsenal is going to save the day as the answer to all prayers. Let's not forget that the US has the one of the biggest arsenals in the world and it didn't prevent some guys from hijacking a couple of planes and flying them into skyscrapers killing hundreds of people.

I agree, this robbery looks like it was planned and so, folks, their place was cased. In my opinion, a gun's not going to help at that point. Now a Pitbull Terrier and a gun...

Everyone,
DON'T carry a gun to "protect" yourself. Buy, train and carry a gun to kill someone who is going to violate you or someone you love. If you can't deal with the fact that you really need to kill someone with that gun when needed then DON'T start down this road out of anger. The gun will be taken from you and then you will probably be killed instead of robbed and/or violated. As difficult as being violated is, living with the knowledge that you have taken someones life is not much of a trade off, both need serious counseling and healing. It is better to use your energy to prevent these crimes to others and yourself by helping programs that address; teen drug and alcohol addiction, victims of pornography, prostitution and human trafficking , or victims of physical violence to women and men. Most of these issues we all have a connection to some degree but turn a blind eye to the devastating nature of these vises and the impact it has on "Other" people until it hits home. These vises destroy people, families, homes, and communities.

Wideawake and Courtney,
My deep sorrow for this TERRIBLE experience you both have gone through. As others have said, I will pray for you. The only real comfort can be found in a loving God who can replace hurt, anger and fear with peace, joy and confidence. My prayer will be that God will somehow use this terrible experience to draw you closer to Himself. God bless.

............Any update?................
