Re: Report Problems After Upgrade 7/29/09

When im on PPCG Old Default, when you hit groan it will tell you the username of the person who hit groan and it will give you the option to remove it. However when you hit thanks it wont show you the user and it also will not allow you to remove your thanks.

When im on the newer version, when you hit groan it will not show you the username and will not allow you to remove it. It also wont show you the thank you username and wont allow you to remove it.

By the way, +1 on the Pm quickreply

I'll be phasing out the old default theme. Most of the new stuff won't work correctly in there.

I'll be making this style better though.

I guess there will be specified criteria as to what justifies a No Thanks response.
People may be hesitant to help out.
Actually even if I got wrong advice, I would not hit the No Thanks button as it the gesture of helping out which is most important.
I'm just throwing things out there because I obviously don't know what the criteria is yet.

Off topic posting may slow down a lot :)

Right now the Groan button doesn't do anything negative. I'm going to tweak it tomorrow, and possibly change the name of the button to say "No thanks".

yea, i've thought about that on and off. (glad to see it btw!)
I wonder if just a simple thumbs-down icon would be best.

I noticed that the mobile browser detection is not working well at all. IE6 on 6.5 and Iris bring up the mobile page regardless of the broswer settings. When this ocurrs, there is no way to force this site out of mobile mode. Considering this site is for pocket pc's, I figured you might like to look in to that.

FYI, Opera 9.5 and Skyfire are fine.

IMO i think a "No Thanks" would be better fit for the site as there is already a "Thanks" button. those match

Well, I tried using the PPC Style selection at the bottom of the page when I was on my Vogue and I could search but I couldn't post. I got the same error message that I got when I tried using Hibby's app. Something about a security object or packet or something missing and I couldn't post. Are you getting rid of the ppc style? Are you replacing it!?

Thanks Mindfrost, change is always good. We all have to evolve. I would suggest toning down the white background and I think everyone for the most part will be happy. I think I found a few dead pixels with the new theme. =)

Thanks for the update, Long Live PPCGeeks!
