Yeah, let's see how things go tomorrow when the site gets hammered. I realize that I got the update done just in time for everyone to go home from work (where we all know that you just screw around on PPCgeeks instead of actually working :D ) So, since site traffic probably dropped off just as I got the update done, I'm not certain how much of an effect this will have yet.
I know that it isn't going to eliminate the problem, but I was home today all day and probably only got to the site a total of 30 minutes out of the 8 hours I was trying. If I can get 6 hours of use out of 8 hours worth of attempts, then I'll be happy. (Thrilled if I can get 8/8!)
Anyway, glad this could help a little. Mike-if the webhost sends you any more error reports, could you PM them to me. I'd like to see what specifically is causing all the memory usage. Also, maybe ask if you can get them to give you a log of mem. usage throughout the day, with which processes are sucking up the most memory.

sorry buddy, i got one a few min ago. ill be off and on tonight so ill record times if i get it again

I had them non-stop for well over 2 hours today, then I'd get on for a minute or two and back to non-stop errors for another hour or two. So 1 time in 3 hours since I finished the update is fantastic.

Why not just convert to a better forum? Ie., SMF. Much lower memory usage, a ton more features, and the conversion from phpBB to SMF is a piece of cake.

I don't have any problems with my SMF forum and managing it is a ton easier than managing my old phpBB forum was... and I know it uses less resources because I switched to SMF after getting a nasty email from SiteGround telling me to lower the system resource usage or they'll have to remove my forum. The only change I've made since then was to go to SMF and now, about 25,000 more posts later, they still haven't sent me anymore emails.

i just got 2 of the errors :( but seems to be happening much less often so thats a good start

Wideawake 03-24-2007 01:42 PM

those two errors were more than likey due to what I was doing. ;) Sorry bout that. I will also be rebuilding the search tables to fix the search features issues.
