So we might have to move again...... :(

Urrrrr....This host is fine and dandy when it comes to other sites being hosted on it, but a forum, with a growind mysql database and a steady stream of members. We need more than they can offer. At the current host we have a mysql cap of 100mb which we will surpass....I know we will. So I have been browsing for new hosts and I think I may have found one, which a user had suggested. It would offer us alot bandwidth, storage, and a unlimited size mysql database! Of course as we all know it wont be cheap. But I think we should move in the near future so that we dont run into any probelms when moving. Prices are 15.95 a month with a 2 year advanced payment, 19.95 a month for 1 year advanced payment, or 19.95 a month (month to month) with a 45 dollar setup fee. So thats what 382.80 for 2yrs, or 239.40 for 1yr. I dont think the month to month is an option. :D We may need donations to make the move to continue serving users with no probelms. I will let everyone know when we will be moving. Thanks for understanding and sorry for the inconvience.

Depending on how much you know about servers, you could always check out PowerVPS, but its a little more expensive. The only cap they would have on the database is the storage space you get.

Its a Virtual Private Server, which means that you get root access to make all the changes you want. I believe now they offer Linux and Windows servers.

I currently have email setup (about 20 users), 3 forums (2 are fairly slow, and 1 averages 100-200 posts per day), and a couple static HTML sites and it usually runs great.

I think the cheapest package is $24.95/month.

well... any updates on this??

Wideawake 10-01-2006 10:52 AM

I may look into that and thought about it actually...but decided at the time we don't need our own server. we get on average 50 posts a day which isn't bad but it looks as if maybe things have slowed down alittle.
